If you’re going to let a position player pitch signifying that you’ve given up, why not just forfeit the rest of the game?
 
Ok, clearly 16 run leads are safe enough that Suarez doesn’t have to pitch tonight.

But he better be ready in case the lead gets cut to 12.
 
It’s really smart to use a real pitcher up by 16 rather than a position player. The pitcher is already warmed up after all.
