Just yesterday I read a tweet from Shanks talking about how JS tried to trade Smoltz at the ‘91 deadline and Bobby talked him out of it.
 
Wow. Terrible news. Little known fact about Bobby he won the division his last year before joining the Braves. So as a manager his division streak is 1 longer than the Braves team streak. I believe he was President of the Hravws for a year before becoming manager so it's not consecutive years although the strike kind of ruined that anyways.

Yes, he finished out 1990 after they fired Nixon.

Hard to believe he and Ted passed so close together.
