Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

10/15 is when this years period has been extended until, so new period will most likely start 11/2 if they follow the same schedule they do with the 6/15 end and 7/2 start.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Minor league season officially cancelled for 2020. So only development players will get are those on the 60 man roster.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Ian Desmond sitting out as well, for COVID, racism, sexism, labor war, homophobia, and cheating. Pretty sure he only needed to say COVID... I’m also sure the Rockies aren’t too sad about not having to pay him his prorated $15M for his negative WAR

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Mike Leake, Arizona pitcher, is first player to opt out of the season. Wouldn’t be surprised if this opens the floodgates and we see more announcing today. According to most reports there are no Braves they are anticipating opting out. But you never know.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Correct, only the 60 players are eligible to workout with the team. The Braves will be running 2 separate camps, one in Atlanta and one in Gwinnett. The extra catchers are to handle the extra pitchers. Most likely all of the minor leaguers on the 60 man will be part of the taxi squad that will...

Let’s project an opening day line up

Lineup looks right. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Hamels or King Felix get opening day for their Lairdership.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

https://twitter.com/680TheFan/status/1277343724020908034?s=20 Roster has been posted. No real surprises. Maybe the fact we’re rolling with 7 catchers. We did only name 56 players. So we may be looking at adding a few FAs

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Not to mention that Riley and Culberson can play outfield and we still have Ortega and O’Brien as well. I would think all would get a shot before wasting service time for Pache. If this was a normal season, I would have been all for Pache getting called up at some point if he was needed and...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

What other reasons are there for actually adding him to the roster and wasting a year of service time? Especially with the taxi squad, where he’s going to get to practice with the MLB team on a daily basis and won’t lose a year of development in that way? Why start his clock for a 60 game season...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

I would assume you could, but you’d be burning through players if you went to pinch run each half inning in extras.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

But you don’t get to pick who the runner on second is. It’s the player that made the final out of the prior inning. So if Tyler Flowers was the last out, he’s on second. And to clvclv, to call up Pache and have his clock start to act as a glorified pinch runner is a horrible, horrible waste...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Nope, because the runner is deemed to have arrived on second via and error, but there is no actual error charged to the fielding team. Apparently this happened in an A level game a few years ago. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/tampa-tarpons-lose-perfect-game-to-extra-inning-rule/

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Also, new weird wrinkle in the extra inning rule. Not that it would probably ever happen, but a pitcher could now lose a perfect game. 0-0 after 9, starter stays in for the 10th going for the perfect game. Runner begins on 2nd, advances to third via stolen base or sac fly and then scores on sac...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Trade deadline is 8/31. Highly doubt there’s an all star game.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

I actually wouldn’t mind the taxi squad remaining forever and replacing the minor league system. Each team gets a taxi squad of 20 players that travels with the team all season and practices with the team. Reduce the draft to 5 rounds every year. Eliminates players coming directly out of high...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Yeah was posted a few months ago that this would be included in the new plan. They’re also going to relax the 3 batter rule for relief pitchers for “spring” training and could wind up relaxing it for the season as well.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

I’m wondering this too. I could see a lot of our pitching prospects on the additional roster, because service time isn’t as big of an issue with them as with position prospects. I could also see us keeping a bunch of the older players we have signed to minor league deals like Alonso, Culberson...

Exactly. Last shortened season...Braves won the WS!

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Nothing official, but most sources say the MiLB season will be cancelled this year. There were rumors of a taxi squad that will travel with the MLB teams of roughly 20 players to be ready for DL replacements and such, but nothing concrete.

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

I could see there still being a taxi squad. They’re going to have allow teams to carry more players due to injury risks, etc. Especially with no minors. I’d want to keep Pache on the taxi squad or not playing at all as I wouldn’t want to waste a year of service time in this clown season.
