I can't remember the other poster, but someone else and I really wanted Edman at the deadline. Just a good player to have around. Dodgers can now let Hernandez walk (and bring him back for the post-season).

A game that looked like neither team wanted to win but somehow the Giants wanted to win less. Overshown's tip/interception was a big-time play but other than that, not much to watch.

I had the same thought when I saw the rumor. Boston currently has 3 prospects in the Top 20 and another 2 in the Top 100 in the MLB site prospect rankings (which often doesn't mean much). Signing Soto would be a huge lift financially, but their current standing in terms of prospects may allow...

It is a different game. Heaviest players on the offensive line for Lombardi's 1960s Packers' dynasty were the two tackles who weighed 250 pounds. I was talking with my brother while we watched a bit of Lions/Bears today and placekickers get cut for not hitting FGs from 50+ yards. In earlier...

That's how MLB counts multi-year extensions and deferred money seems like a multi-year extension in some ways. Like striker said, MLB really has to address this issue.

I read somewhere during the end-of-season wrap-ups that the Blue Jays saw Bichette's 2024 as a blip and not a trend in terms of performance and they were intent on bringing him back in 2025. I agree that the Blue Jays have made a ton of odd decisions and miscalculations in the recent past and...

I had the same thought. They have a lot of money to throw around, but Friedman seems to have gone counter some of this strategies when he was in charge of the cash-strapped Rays. Trades/Signings for guys like Glasgow, Kershaw, and now Snell are all expensive and have red flags (especially at...

Right, but if I understand your proposal, the Cubs would throw in another $10 MM bringing it down to $11 MM. EDIT: I misread your proposal. The $10 MM would be for 2026. Got it.

But the way you've structured the deal, the Braves would only be paying $11 MM for Bellinger and the Cubs have no need for Fletcher unless they are opening a sports book. I could see the Cubs sending a prospect along with Bellinger and kicking in $10 MM, but I don't see how we could convince...

Seems tilted in the Braves' favor by a bit. I think if the Cubs are going to eat that much money and take on Fletcher, they either won't give us Little or would require we send along one of our second-tier pitching prospects (Hackenberg, Braun, Kuehler, etc.).

I had the same thought. The Braves would finally have a legitimate back-up at 1B to give Olson a day at DH or insurance if he got hurt and Bellinger could do the same for Harris. Of course, Ozuna will be slotted in at DH, so there probably won't be a rotation at the position. Still, a guy...

It would all depend on how much salary the Cubs will kick in. I don't think Anthopoulos would want to assume $20+ MM on a deal like this. Have to remember, more salary the Cubs pick up, the higher level of prospect they will want back. It can work but I think it would be difficult to find the...

Bellinger doesn't fit the usual Anthopoulos move, but it would all depend on how much the Cubs were willing to kick in on salary. Kind of a woofer contract with two $25MM+ years remaining.

Winter meetings don't start for two weeks, so I would expect some movement prior to then. Anyone here have the projected salary of Kikuchi? Curious if that will be a benchmark of any sort.

    Rico Carty Has Passed Away

Living in Minnesota, there were nights when the wind was blowing the right way that I could pick up the WSB signal and listen to snippets of games (the signal would go in and out) on the car radio. I was constantly admonished by my dad to not run down the car battery. Undaunted, I was...

Philadelphia looked like a Super Bowl contender last night. Barkley has been amazing and the defense was all over the Rams. The Eagles and Lions are clearly a tier above everyone else in the NFC. Other teams could challenge them, but beating them would be an upset.

I saw him play in Milwaukee when I was 12 years old. The guy could flat-out hit.

I wonder what the market for Ynoa will be. Kerr is hurt and Salinas is still developing, but Ynoa does have a track record of being effective when healthy. He's down the list on the pecking order in Atlanta and I wonder if he'll try somewhere else.

I agree. 40-man was at 38 or 39 and after the non-tenders it's sitting in the low-30s. The Kerr acquisition was a puzzler to me. As NYC says, the acquisition cost (in terms of carrying some of Carpenter's contract) was, while not onerous, a cost that did impinge flexibility. I think Kerr is...
