It’s possible AJSS has taken a step forward that makes him too valuable for 1 year of Cease. Since we have 0 data on him from ST it’s really hard to tell, but the velocity late in the game makes it look like he may be too valuable now.

If you squint you can picture a Kelenic plus AJSS for Cease trade. I’d be very reluctant to trade AJSS now though because I haven’t seen his latest statcast data on stuff that the eye test says is improved from last year.

With McCann and Verdugo the Braves are finally building something approximating and MLB bench. I do agree that Kelenic and Verdugo feel a bit redundant.

It’s literally all he can do with his current approach, so a few are going to land as hits.

Nice, they corrected course during the commercial break and asked questions that elicited responses that were actually entertaining. Well done production crew.

Yay, we are now treated with dinosaur rants from chipper. I wish the announcers would stop leading interviews in the direction of telling fans why baseball sucks nowadays.

The lineup looks remarkable better with a .350+ OBP at the top of it rather than Ozzie “pull the ball down the RF line at all costs” Albies.

Schwelly is definitely a quantity over quality stuff guy, but his location and execution seems to be what drives his success. He gets the FA up when he needs it, and buries the breaking stuff when appropriate. Sale and Strider rely on 1-2 absolutely disgusting pitches that are truly elite, and...

If Schwelly really takes that next step to TOR guy and Sale/Strider are 100% in October this is going to be a very exciting playoff run.

Let’s see if the offense can find a way to be retired on 2 pitches this inning.

Probably shoulder issues like he dealt with last year. It should not come as a surprise, and should have been accounted for during the offseason. The Braves are likely to have exactly 2 actual MLB SPs to start the season.

Now that ABS is in play and almost perfect, I see no reason for umpires to exist. Let catchers call balls and strikes, and allow hitters to challenge strike calls. Almost all plays in the field are obvious to the players, and any close calls can go to replay. There is literally no reason to...

Alvarez is a worse version of Grissom, and Grissom is very obviously not even good enough to be a utility player. Exit velocity data is almost never wrong, and guys who can’t hit the ball with authority can not play at the MLB level.

Robertson is currently #71 on the all time saves list. I seriously doubt he is holding out for the opportunity to move into the #50 slot.

Agreed. I see many articles with the exact same formula. Spotrac makes algorithmic contract projections for every player, so it’s pretty easy to parse that data for stories. It may or may not be AI generated, but the authors clearly playing the “rack up clicks” game for max compensation .

Just once I’d like to see this team go into October with the rotation at full strength. Sale/strider can carry this team Johnson/schilling style.

FWIW the data on his FA in the minors shows it has movement very similar Lopez. If he really has 99 in the tank after 60 pitches that’s an extremely good sign. Can’t wait to see real MLB data for him.

Eye test is very hard to tell how much a pitch rises. AJSS is the most interesting pitcher to see early data on this year. We only need statcast data on about 10 of his 4 seamers to determine how good that pitch is.

Good to see Harris stealing a base and sliding hands first into 2B. If he could break a finger or wrist on March 15th that would be outstanding for this teams championship chances.
