    Abortion

Thanks friend. Runnin's view is something of an old saw. I think for secularists, there's more of a reliance on government to be the provider. For my ilk, it's our calling. Yes, our taxes can be used, but so should our tithes and time.

You are right -- meant my perspective was. :-)

    Abortion

It's anecdotal and we all tend to have confirmation bias but the Christians I know aren't the caricature you make them out to be. They are the ones operating soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters for abused women, clothing closets, and pregnancy crisis centers and seeking to heal racial divides...

The SCOTUS Nomination and Confirmation Thread

Nice having a non-Ivy Leaguer for a change. Going after her family, their adoptions, their faith is tricky business for them but telling.

    Abortion

That, of course is the point, it's not merely a mother's body. It's the life of another being aborted. Only anti-scientific, mental gymnastics allow one to think otherwise. I remember having this conversation with a coworker years ago and she was the only one that I've actually interacted with...

I get that -- it's just that you come across as very judgmental. Wasn't sure if you mean to? Are unaware that you do? Or what. We all are you know. It's a part of being human. Judgments have to be made all the time. I just hope to be honest about mine -- plank in the eye and all.

Coredor, do you see yourself as being judgmental?

    Abortion

No need to fix it for me -- maybe for you friend. Yes, society really doesn't give a rats ass about others, to be quite frank. That, sadly, is a deepening trait of our highly individualistic society that has secular materialist moorings.

    Abortion

To continue -- its defense and its practice is dehumanizing. Like chattel slavery. It tends to desensitize its practitioners and advocates. It's a further outworking of an overwrought expressive individualism. It is the codification of that societal religion and it's sacrament. That's why it...

    Abortion

It is the willful taking of human life by lethal injection, dismemberment, poisoning, etc. It's an affront against human dignity. It's not the taking of a potential life but of life. Our society has deemed it not only allowable but having no legal/moral consequence. It has been morphed into a...

The SCOTUS Nomination and Confirmation Thread

Foaming at the mouth, gnashing teeth, and hyperventilating about Trump adding another justice? Rallying for packing the court? Y'all need to go for a walk. Roberts will keep drifting toward you. Gorsuch will throw a curveball ever now and then. You'll keep your sacrament. It won't go away.

The SCOTUS Nomination and Confirmation Thread

The Dems will pack the court, taking it to 13. And then perchance the Rs get in control again, how about making it 25? Lunacy.

The SCOTUS Nomination and Confirmation Thread

They shouldn't have with Garland and they shouldn't now. What did Ginsburg say herself? A president is elected for a 4 year term, not a 3.

As badly as Trump has handled the pandemic (imho), they've said, "hold my beer" when it comes to the riots. It's incredible. And they could have positioned themselves so much better in relationship to him on the issue, but have missed that opportunity. It'll be interesting to follow their...

    The Trump Presidency

I think Sturg is right here. Biden would have already locked up my vote if the Ds weren't hell-bent against religious freedom. The issue of abortion is virtually a lost cause. It's a sacrament for the left. No bending there. That's already a hard pill for me to swallow but with the consistent...
