Braves get Murphy 3 way deal

My biggest fear would be Olson and Riley as far as extensions go. Their contracts don’t offer a much lower salary cap figure in the decline years like everyone else’s(1M less) I feel like AA just wanted 2 power guys locked up to eventually cover 1B/DH. We should not draft a 1B or future DH for...

If we’re over the luxury tax, let’s sign Andrew Chafin. Anderson has an option year left

Agreed, AAA and AA are mostly full of backups and UT guys. Hilliard does not have an option, which I was somewhat surprised by. Luplow does if needed.

Early look at the AAA and AA position players. We can almost field 2 lineups of Lefties and switch hitters. Maybe the shift ban was behind this or just a coincidence. Not sure Gwinette C Chadwick Tromp 1B Lewin Diaz (L) 2B Braden Shewmake (L) SS Hoy Park (L) 3B Cade Bunnell (L) RF...

Yeah, we’ll start seeing that this season with Acuna paying him $17M with a luxury tax hit of $12.5M for the next 4 years

Strider will be paid $6M over the next 3 years but carry a luxury tax of $12.5M per year. That’s crazy

Ozuna and Rosario are big mistakes. My hope is that AA saw it was going to be a silly FA market and chose to dole out extensions increasing the luxury tax salary payroll, so he had an excuse for not overpaying in this market. The extensions no doubt are worth it, but short term painful.

Trying to be positive here, it’s going to be much more fun following our SS’s in the minors this year. Tavares, Benitez, or Nacho Alvarez may be the long term answer at SS. We’ll have Shewmake in AAA and 3 SS in MS Conley/Waddell/Bunnell. None of these guys are going to be stars, but any one...

The Giants have some payroll room now. Hopefully AA can talk his old pal in to taking on Ozuna with some prospects attached

Apparently Boras/Conforto want a 2 year deal with an opt out.

This is just a replacement for a Heredia since he’s a RH who can play all 3 OF positions.

Daulton Varsho would make some sense in a trade. Athletic Catcher who moved to the OF. It’d be nice to have a 3rd catching option in case of injury if we plan on Murphy/TDA DHing when not catching.

How about hitting up San Diego for Ha-Seong Kim and Jackson Merrill. The IF would be set with Tatis/Bogaerts/Machado They also have another IF prospect Rosario who could be their UT.

Fernando Tatis is owed an average of $24M over the next 12 years, which brings him to his age 35 season ( same as Riley and Olson) The contract is backloaded with salaries that get up to 36M but tops out at $24M luxury tax salary. It’s actually not a bad contract if he is who he was before...

Braves get Murphy 3 way deal

So, does AA announce an extension? He’ll get paid like Realmuto at $25m per in 3 years. Maybe we can get a discount on those first 2 FA years.

A possible scenario is the Brewers had a deal all but wrapped up with Oakland and AA jumped back in, but the Brewers would only back off if they got Contreras.
