    2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Always a gamble when you are trading for 18-year-olds, but depending on which pitchers head to the A's, that's a decent deal for them. As I said above, there just wasn't a package we could have put together for Miller. I imagine Preller is playing spin-the-bottle to come up with some salary...

    Good Bye Rafael Montero

I thought of former Brave RHP Pat Jarvis and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman actor Graham Jarvis.

All true. My only point is that he may have reasons we are unaware of and we have to accept that. It might not make sense to us. I think from a baseball standpoint, he's crazy to not want to leave. He's not going to build up value playing half-time for the rest of the season.

Agree. All you do is cycle your young stars for prospects and if any of the prospects turn out, you end up trading them or another set of prospects, and so on and so on and so on. Pirates are a puzzler to some extent. Their drafts have gotten high marks. Their international signings have...

I think we as fans often forget that players are people and not commodities. Ozuna likely has reasons why he'd veto a deal if he is indeed intent on dictating his destination. Odd thing is that he will probably be looking for a new baseball home this off-season at any rate.

True. You don't get to where he is without having a bit of an edge and belief in one's self. My only gripe has been his narrowmindedness on how to move things along.

Methinks this is going to be an absolutely crazy day. A lot of prospects will be meeting their new minor league teammates tomorrow.

    Good Bye Rafael Montero

I checked his stats and he's played 2B and 3B in addition to SS in Erie (the Tigers' AA team). If his baseball career doesn't turn out for him, at least he got a chance to be a Moon Mammoth. Get his game-used Moon Mammoth jersey here: Jim Jarvis Moon Mammoths Jersey

I don't see how we would have the bodies to land him. As for the whole scene, I am trending toward disappointment. Maybe it's Ozuna's 10/5 rights that are holding things up, but he's not coming back in 2026 so I imagine the rest of the guys in the clubhouse--while respecting his labor rights...

He played for the University of Alabama, so CrimsonCowboy will have to hit up his sources for a complete rundown.

    2025 Around The League Thread

"Protection" has pretty much disproven as a rock-solid indicator of much of anything, but what you say is so true. You can see it in how carefully they pitch to a couple of Braves' players knowing that 6 through 9 most of the year has been a cakewalk. And it's not only because they haven't hit...

GDT 7-30: Braves at Royals - Game 3

Valuable in the right situation. He's probably a 4.5 OF, which works in the short-term but I think a team needs someone better over an extended period if a regular goes down. Great tools but it doesn't appear he's going to get to a skill level to maximize them.

GDT 7-30: Braves at Royals - Game 3

Allard was one of the top-ranked pitchers in his draft, but he had a back injury his senior year and Clark and company decided to go ahead an pick him anyway. I wonder how much money Carter Stewart has made in Japan and if he has ever considered coming back to the states. He's pitched fairly...

GDT 7-30: Braves at Royals - Game 3

He was using his secondary pitches to set up his fastball and that maybe shows up in the scouting report for his next opponent, but he had pretty good command until he started tiring and it worked today.

To show my mastery of baseball knowledge, I was disappointed when Hayes was off the board 9 picks before the Braves' drafted Austin Riley. Hayes has just never learned to hit. Negative O Bwar the past two years. Defensive wizard with a balsa wood bat.

Not very good at Baseball Savant. Really hard to tell today. He really pitched well early but he was clearly running out of gas. Statcast had him hitting 94 a couple of times, but he was pitching backwards for most of the game.

Snitker is so old school. The only reason he's getting Wentz is that he doesn't want him to get the L after pitching so well.

Usually with hitters, you pretty much know what you have after a couple of seasons. With pitchers, every now and then you see a guy who has struggled find a period of success. Morton is an example of that. Best example (at least for me) is Mke Scott, who pitched for the Met and stunk and won...
