    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

From this morning's DOB article on Braves pitchers, this is the first time I've seen a timeline this optimistic for Joe Jiménez . . . https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6111935/2025/02/05/braves-spring-guide-28-notes-for-28-pitchers-from-anderson-to-strider-to-waldrep/

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Based on the scuttled Jeff Hoffman deal that Bowman reported as 5 years, $45-48 million, this is my working assumption as well. BAL and TOR each offered Hoffman 3 years. I think the Braves were motivated to outbid them in years more so than AAV in order to keep the CBT valuation in the $9-10...

    Bravos sign Profar.

Yeah, my sense is that Soler is worse, though it's not really provable since Soler's recent teams have (wisely) not let him accumulate significant OF innings. Profar's age 30 and 31 metrics put him toward the bottom of the list of qualified OFs. Age-related decline likely puts him in DH...

    Bravos sign Profar.

Man, I don't hate this outcome - and it's not unexpected - but I was hoping for a different solution. It pains me to have DH-level defense in LF at this price. I haven't seen Profar enough to have a legit "eye-test" perspective here, but the defensive metrics I'm seeing look quite poor the...

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

With the RP market moving quickly now, I'm curious about a possible match between the Braves and David Robertson. Really solid numbers the past couple years, though you have to figure in some decline in his age 40 season. Who knows what he's looking for in a prospective team, but he's from the...

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

The waiting game is frustrating, but I'm okay to miss out on Tanner Scott at that price. Definitely a weapon when he's on, but that 4 to 5 BB / 9 can drive ya crazy. The Jeff Hoffman situation really sucks. Loved that gambit, but what can you do when the guy fails the physical? At least it...

Enjoy the rest of the series guys! Look forward to checking in during the offseason.

GDT- 10/04/19: NLDS Game Two: St. Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves

Fried gives us so much flexibility. I kinda like the idea of Teheran starting game 4 and STL loading up with LHH, then PH for Teheran in the third and bring in Fried for several innings. At any rate, we have to go into all these games with a Plan A - Z, and the flexible roster is a big help...

GDT- 10/04/19: NLDS Game Two: St. Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves

Nicely managed game by Snit. I like the calculated risks of Duvall PH and Melanson 9th. We have a legit chance to win this series!

Surprising - but great - pitch call from McCann there.

Personally, I like the idea of starting w/ Melancon in the 9th since Greene is available, and has to be a short leash for MM.

Braves interested in CK and DK

I generally dread the idea of signing a "big" free agent, but I'm finding myself really hoping this Keuchel deal happens. AA has made some mistakes, but I'm optimistic that he won't do anything ridiculous on Keuchel when it comes to money and years. Wondering if something in the zone of 2 /...

    Thread: GDT: 4/9 #MyAce v.s. the Rocks

Camera has shown Fried checking his hand at least 3 times. Hoping there isn’t a blister forming.

    2018 Offseason And Targets

Duvall looks like a goner. I assume this also means that the Braves feel good about Camargo playing some corner OF when they sit Inciarte or Markakis against tough lefties. 1109519568723210243

    2018 Offseason And Targets

I'm personally not a big Sam Freeman fan, but I did find this a bit surprising on a pure baseball level. Sadly enough, he is probably one of our 9 best RPs for opening day. This may be a hoarding move by AA that Freeman was complicit in. I believe Freeman has to accept the outright assignment...

    2018 Offseason And Targets

Yeah, I think the offseason fireworks have led the Phils to be overvalued a bit. I give a slight edge to WAS to win the division, but it could obviously unravel in a lot of different ways.

    3/2/19 Gamethread Braves at Tigers

Watched Fried post game interview, and he said the cut was on the top of the pinky and he couldn't quickly get the bleeding to stop. Snit said he only had a couple of batters left to face, so he was at peace with exiting. Listened to the radio broadcast and the velocity reports on his FB were...

    2018 Offseason And Targets

Yeah, I am not disappointed to see the Phillies make this deal. ZiPs projects Harper as below replacement level over the last 3 years of the deal, so even the last 4-5 (6?) years of the deal may be under water from a value standpoint. Harper seems to keep his nose clean off the field, but his...

Game day thread: braves @ astros

Stylistically, Wentz looks like a taller version of Allard. Missed a couple pitches, so not sure I even saw a change up.
