The improvements we should see from pitching will mitigate some of the lost production from Donaldson. I also think that a healthy Ender should be worth about ~1 win more than he was in 2019. I also think we may see a slight uptick in value from the catcher position from either Flowers or...

Yeah it just sounds weird to say that you'd be willing to send Pache in exchange for the less valuable asset without mentioning a bunch of cash. Personally, I don't think there is a realistic chance that the Rockies would send enough money back to warrant sending Pache to them.

Does nobody pay attention when we discuss the surplus value of players? Pache or Waters for Arenado would be a big overpay. If the Rockies were gonna send a truck load of cash alongside Arenado, then maybe. But without cash, Bryant is the more valuable asset.

I've been sorta anti-Haniger/Seager trade, but at this point that may be the best realistic option if the money can be sorted out properly.

The difference in prospect cost between Arenado/Bryant and Chapman is pretty massive.

I swear if we roll out Riley at 3rd base while paying Will Smith and Mark Melancon 27 million dollars I'm going to blow a freaking gasket.

If you implemented a quality machine learning program into your cheating scam it would be next to impossible to fool. AI can pick up on simple patterns like that extremely quickly. Mark Rober created a simple app on his phone that could do it. A giant team with immense amounts of resources...

Lol. We finish the season with 7 straight home games against the two World Series participants. That's brutal.

Jeez I didn't realize that his fastball and sinker were such awful pitches. The dude has given up a 136 wRC+ against his fastball over his career. Last season he gave up a 1.300 (!) OPS against his sinker when he decided to throw it. It has been absolutely dreadful the past two years. How...

When I was in college and going to bars a lot, a whiskey sour was my go to drink. Either that or Cranberry vodka (until I developed an allergic reaction to that particular drink and somehow wound up 4 and a half miles down a local nature trail with hives all over my body. I somehow developed a...

    New stat: Thanks efficiency

I'm terrible with giving Thanks. Mostly because I just forget that the feature exists and I'm more interested in finding something to laugh at.

The Nationals have ended up doing what I suggested as a plan C for the Braves if they missed out on a big bat; sign veterans with upside on cheaper short term contracts to build a deeper lineup and preserve long term flexibility. I kinda like what they have done, but if we end up getting...

I also have a source inside the Braves front office that is telling me JD is going to sign on Monday for 105 million over 4 years. Or I have schizophrenia. You decide.

Braves rated the best farm system of the decade by MLB

It blows my mind that it took fangraphs so long to incorporate framing into their WAR model. I've preferred fangraphs over BR or BP for years now, but BP has had framing for a really long time.

I wonder how much of it is a player's body, or physical traits that you can't really teach or train. For example, when I was in high school I was a first baseman, but I would pitch occasionally. I'm a really big guy who is relatively tall, but I was born with exceptionally tiny hands for my...

I have mad respect for it. I have respect for anyone who has such an unrelenting commitment to... whatever it is that he does. Clv is like the Andy Kaufman of this board. He could literally have an entire crowd of people telling him to stop, and he just keeps chugging along.
