TUESDAY FINAL THREAD 5/9 .... Acuna debuts big in AA

An interesting analysis would be to compare the "safe pick" success rate to the "high upside / high risk / reward pick" success rate. I don't think this is even possible, but I would ventrure to guess high floor selections do not succeed at a higher rate than high ceiling selections. Thus I...

FG Jed Bradley (Retires at age 26) story...

pretty sad to see him give up on his dreams, but baseball (and all sports) is a hard business to "make it". We all envy those who do make it but don't pay much attention to the ones that never do. Jed apparently is one of those. Good luck. Still nice 6 years and a lot of money playing ball.

Gwinnett's rotation is a bit more interesting now

With the promotion of Weigel, the Gwinnett Braves rotation now boast 3 legitimate prospects. I want to see how the prospects perform on a daily basis. That is one of the best parts of this forum. However, Mississippi, Florida, and Rome was getting all my attention. Now Newcomb, Sims, Weigel...

GDT: 5/9 Braves @ Astros; Santana debuts

There are 2 guys in AAA that are pitching well and deserve a shot this year. How long do you let Colon go with this type of production before you "discover an injury" and give one of Newcomb or Sims a spot start or 2?

Minors Final Monday 5/8 ... Pike leads mound effort

I go over on both he and Riley (if they both stay in Florida). If either move up to Mississippi, then under all the way.

    Top pitching prospect results

I have not done much research into the runs he has allowed, but what jumps out to me is that he has mental weakness so far. Great for 4+ innings, but then something happens (bad call, error, hit a good pitch) and he has a let down and allows several big hits to follows. Kind of like Folty...

MINORS THREAD 5/2: Red-hot Rome rallies

I think it is too easy with all this talent to get really excited about 1 game or really down about 1 game. We all know that is not the way development (or baseball in whole) works, but with so much talent we focus much more. What I want to see is 2 guys doing well at each level at all times...

ahh, has everyone picked a side? Continue to suck VS huge comeback on its way

MINORS FINAL; 4/26 WEDNESDAY: Tough Act to Follow

Maybe because I am new here, but I am not sure the conclusion you are trying to get at with the circle jerk you are organizing. We all know that if you have 5 good candidates, then only 1 will likely have a decent career. -- your point of Folty out of Folty, Wisler, Blair, Jenkins, Gant...

    Wisler called up again.

And then traded him over the off season...deja vu?

TUESDAY THREAD FINAL 4/25 ... Most important day so far

    Minor league catching right now: AA - Kabe Scivicque - 282/356 A+ - Jackson - 338 w/7HR, Morales .287/.344 A - Tanner Murphy - .281/.405 + Hebert + cumberland Maybe catching has a chance in the future?

TUESDAY THREAD FINAL 4/25 ... Most important day so far

    A. Jackson with his 7th HR. Watching him, what is wrong with him? Is it just the Catcher DH thing that keeps people for actually going nuts over this guy?

TUESDAY THREAD FINAL 4/25 ... Most important day so far

Carmargo 2-3 again. He now has an OPS of 1.167. What is his deal, he is playing great. He is known for his defense. He has 1 of ATL's 2 pinch hits this year. Is he a real prospect or why isn't he on Atlanta bench?

    Wisler called up again.

Although it doesn't look like it so far, one or two of these guys in AA will falter between now and next year end (much like Sims did at AAA last year). When that happens, they will send him back to AA and open a spot or 2 for Sims, Newcomb, Wisler, or Blair next year. I expect 2 of the...

TUESDAY THREAD FINAL 4/25 ... Most important day so far

That's the rub. Every starter needs an off speed option. A 3rd pitch, just to be viable as a starter. That is why most on this board and others say pitcher x (Newcomb, Sims, etc) are bound to be high leverage relievers. Yes it is true. The organization is responsible for player development...

TUESDAY THREAD FINAL 4/25 ... Most important day so far

This is what I have heard. His FB has lots of movement and takes it out of the zone and his change is below average. If his change becomes average he can be a starter. If he can control his FB, he can be TOR. Notice in his history, he has either blown people away or been hit hard. If his...

MONDAY MINORS 4/24 ... Light Day!

and Rome rained out...slow day in Braves news...maybe Tuesday will bring more, like Boni, Krol, EOF all being fired

    Help from Gwinnett?

The only rational logic is that they are NOT expected to pitch for ATL. they are literally last resort if we have a couple back to back long extra inning games. Blair went back to AAA presumably so he wouldn't miss a start. Wisler will likely do the same thing. I would not be suprised to see...

    Wisler called up again.

My issue has nothing to do with options or pay, not my concern. What I dont like is that if you want him to be a starter and fix himself, then give it time in the minors or let him start in Atl. Moving him from rotation to bullpen and back will mess him up. Different mindsets, different...

    Sunday braves at phillies

Folty has looked really good the last 2 starts. If that is becoming his norm, then we have a TOR on our hands. If by mid-season we feel like we have 2 TOR (Folty and Julio), we are going to be in pretty good shape leading to the trade deadline.
