Braves acquire No. 35 pick in MLB Draft for Drew Waters and more

150% in favor of this type of deal. Took a player with low (and cratering) value, sold Dayton the dream (look at his shiny former prospect status!) along with a few spare parts that likely would never make the MLB team nor would have any independent meaningful value in a trade, and exchanged...

GDT 6/21/22: Braves vs. Giants - Win It For Allison

I'm so sorry to hear this. As a father, it breaks my heart. I'm praying for Allison and your family. Maybe this forum is a welcome distraction for you - and if it is, then I hope it helps you find some alleviation - but otherwise family first my friend.

Around the Majors - 2022 Version

FYI Braves defeat Riley in arbitration - he'll be paid $3.95M this year instead of the $4.2M his side filed for.

Dodgers game 3: let's win the series

Seriously… It’s a tired act to continue to harp on Braves “lifers” particularly when 1) it’s not in the team’s best interest going forward and 2) Freeman specifically had an opportunity to come back to this organization but chose to try for more and left the FO no choice but to choose certainty...

Around the Majors - 2022 Version

Hey I’m rooting for the kid but you do realize he’s had all of 2 ABs this season, right? He went 1 for 2 with a double (hence the 1.500 OPS). Maybe let’s let him get 100-200 ABs before we start citing stats

    Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Price is about right - he's projected for a 1.2-1.5 WAR or something around those lines. Issue is resource allocation now. Do the Braves have enough for another OF and a competent SP? A dream would be AA getting authority to overspend in 22 using some playoff revenue windfalls to getting...

I'd rather sign Conforto than those two. And if we can't afford Conforto, Pham seems like he'd provide great value as a fallback.

    Matt Olson to Braves!

Unbelievable job by AA here. As Enscheff notes, an extension is not always a good thing but in this case (factoring in age curves and price), I think this is a steal. Now the real test comes with what AA does with the remaining money saved from what they had budgeted for a realistic Freeman...

    Official CBA Negotiation Thread

No doubt much of this is true. I don't "clock in, clock out" - I am 24/7 as someone in this thread already said. I have conference calls at 11 pm, 4 am, 6 pm, etc -- some days I don't sleep. I have executed dozens of M&A transactions where I've led teams of hundreds on diligence, negotiation...

    Official CBA Negotiation Thread

As an executive myself (and part owner of a global company), I actually agree with Ensheff's post. I am not 250x more valuable than my lower level employees; in fact, those employees are far more the life blood of the revenue engine than I or any one else in the C-suite is. Which is why we...

    Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Eh that’s a pretty penny for Marte and for 1-2 years too long. The Mets wouldn’t go to 6 years/25 per for Springer (who was 25) but go 4 years at near 20 per for a 32 year old? That’s the Mets for you. Look they are going to spend like crazy this winter because the training wheels are off of...

    Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Actually in a 363 sale, the trust can reject certain executory contracts - if a contract is rejected, the counterparty is free to contract elsewhere. However that contract is valuable (ie, in the money)- so there is no way it would be rejected so it’s just a theoretical exercise.

    Ian Anderson's stuff

What this does tell me is AA should sell high if some team calls and values Ian as something more than a solid middle of the rotation guy. Obviously I don’t want to trade Ian since he is immensely valuable to us and for rotation stability, but if someone valued him higher I’d be interested in...

GDT 11/2/21: Braves @ Astros - World Series Game 6

Our boys did it. I’m so happy. I’m in Houston running down the street in my Soler jersey. Rico- this one is for you, man!

rico43 has gone beyond the Field of Dreams.

Well here’s to Rico and hoping he has front row seats to this WS and helping the Braves take the title this year. He will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace my friend

    GDT 10/21/21: Braves @ Dodgers - NLCS Game 5

Enscheff - Snitker said Soler has been working out the whole time On his own and is ready for game action (per a espn article from a half hour ago).

What Would A "Fair" Freeman Extension Look Like?

Putting his current injury aside, Brandon Belt is a viable 1B option. He's 33 so I expect his contract would be shorter than Freeman's but he'd still have a relatively high AAV. But question is whether he can continue his same level of 2021 production over the next ~2 years (unlikely but could...

Around the League - 2021 Szn

Don't forget about Cano - he's likely their DH next year if there's the universal DH. He's already making noises about playing again and being healthy so unless they want to keep him on the bench or are able to trade him or Alonso, I doubt they'll go after Freeman.
