I think it's pretty clear it won't work out, and will be another piece of evidence that Posey has no business running baseball ops for an MLB franchise. He's going to be like Dave Stewart in AZ, but maybe not quite that terrible.

If Kim hits the market, he's gone. AA is going to give Kim the top offer he wants to pay, and if Kim still elects FA, why would AA suddenly increase his offer later? The fact Kim hasn't hit the market yet is a good sign for the Braves (compared to others who recently opted out immediately). I...

This is about the best rumor we could have read at this point in the search process. It sounds like AA is circling my top choice from months ago, as well as other legit options. Fingers crossed AA starts making good decisions again after being half braindead the last 20 months.

That offer was made last year when he had 2 arb years left. They obviously don’t think that’s a reasonable offer now.

The Ms didn’t use their best BP arm in the most important part of the game because it wasn’t a save chance and now they are probably going home. Positionless BP usage should be an absolute requirement for the next Braves manager.

Gray is a pretty interesting trade candidate. If you assign $10M per WAR for a legit SP, and project him for 3+ WAR in 2026, it’s very likely he would sign for $30M+ if he were a FA willing to sign a 1 year deal. So if the Cards paid for the $5M buyout, he would have almost exactly zero trade...

So any deal including a cap will have to include a floor. Any plan including a floor will have to include more revenue sharing. Seems like this stoppage may be pretty long.

Posey is quickly showing he has no business leading a baseball team.

My question is how does the NFL make a floor/cap system work? Does their revenue sharing model make it possible for all teams to afford staying at 90% of the salary cap? Would a floor/cap system in MLB require the rich teams to send the poor teams enough money to afford $200M payrolls?

All the crybaby whining aside, we just got to witness the single best baseball game ever played by any human in the history of baseball. It was very likely the best single baseball game that will ever be played by any human ever. It was amazing.

Some manager candidates will hire Boras and drag negotiations out until January.

There are several options better than Ross, and almost anyone is better than an MLB network talking head. As long as they are talking to the good candidates I couldn't care less if they talk to those guys. The internal options have to be given a chat, that's just professional courtesy.

If I went back in time 6 months and told everyone on this board Olson posted and .850 OPS and 4.7 fWAR everyone would have been pretty happy.

No idea, but I think it's hilarious watching folks argue over Olson being good/great and Elder being a #5/AAAA SP.

Pretty sure Olson was more good than great defensively.

Yes really. The whole “new things ruined baseball” boomer narrative is a microcosm of everything boomer in the real world, and this idea that everyone had to avoid progress so the boomers don’t cry and throw elderly temper tantrums. It doesn’t matter what it is…if it’s new, they hate it.

Old dinosaur boomers like you will be dead soon, so we won't have to worry long about any of the negatives your generation brings that have ruined many things for many people. Thankfully...good riddance.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

Anything more than "absolutely nothing" like last offseason would be a very good start. So let's wait for that step to be taken, and talk about further moves once AA literally does anything to address the rotation. Even one addition of a MLB caliber SP will be a massive help compared to last...
