I wonder how the looming CBA next offsesaon will effect free agents this year. No doubt that's why Alonso opted out. He wants a multi year deal now and not have to deal with a potential lockout next season. Guys may not be as open as usual to settle for a 1 year deal.

The Reds aren't that much better. And they are worse in overall fWAR among position players. Guardians and Reds rank 24th and 25th in that regard. Truly pathetic. Guardians won their division with a -6 run differntial. Braves were at -10 for whatever it's worth.

Not that it matters who the best team is heading into the playoffs but this is the most mid playoffs that I can remember. No truly great team this year.

Acuna is not going to want to DH on the reg. Find a RF and rotate New Guy/Profar/Acuna through the DH spot regularly. Besides Kim they also need another reliable starter.

Yup. The .512 win % of the Reds is the lowest to take a WC spot since the WC became a thing. Looks like the 2005 Padres are the only worst team to make it periood with a .506 WP but they won a truly horrible NL West that year.
