    2025-2026 offseason thread

The Dodgers BP issues have mostly come from 3 guys. But if they are that afraid of using their pen, then the solution should have been to piggy back Kershaw in the 4th, which would allow Snell to pitch again in game 7 in some sort of capacity if they get there. Maybe even in game 6 if they...

Probably not. Though Acuna is over 1.5 years removed from the surgery. I am not saying I love that Acuna is playing ball in winter. The point is more that being competitively active in the off-season is a lot more common than people seem to think for professional athletes.

It's clear the Braves do not want the blow back from preventing Acuna from doing this. Neither from the MLB nor from the locker room by pissing off your franchise player. And this is all pretty overblown. I can assure you that tons of players around the league are not sitting around in a...

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Journalist actually don't vote on the Sporting News awards. It's a combination of players, managers, and executives. There isn't much info on how many participated or what the vote % was. But since Baldwin won the MLBPA ROY, it's safe to say it was likely a close race.

They might have grounds. But MLBPA would likely fight it. And there is something to be said about not pissing off your franchise player. I Imagine he asked, we advised against it but didn't want to deal with the fall out of trying to stop him.

Unlikely. At most, he may go in with a blank hat. But he has played 75% of his career in Atlanta to this point. He won his MVP here. He won his first WS here. 5 AS appearances in Atlanta. People mostly remember Freddie as a Brave.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

I think what people are missing here is that we need to be drafting more pitchers with a last name starting with S. Particularly if their first name is Spencer. Strider, Schwelly, Shawver, and Sinnard. The pattern is clearly there.

More about Sinnard, from another forum: "I absolutely love what the coaches in the AFL are doing w/ Sinnard's 4-seamer from a spin & shape perspective. Here's a comparison of his 1st game (prior to getting much instruction) vs. a mash-up of his 2nd & 3rd games: 10/14 (prior to getting much...

Their best bet is to have it remain the same. If anything changes on that front, it's simply going to be the end of deferments. If it were me, I would make deferments count 1.5 times towards the luxury tax.

The Dodgers will be the Nationals, circa 2021 in about 5 years. That is especially true if the new CBA prevents teams from deferring money anymore. Starting in 2034, their deferred payments start adding up to close to 100 million annually for players not on their roster. Only 10 years later in...

Someone mentioned that if Drake wins the ROTY, that pick would actually be protected in the event we sign a FA with a QO attached, and it would actually be our 2nd round pick that would be forfeited. Anyone know if that is true? It could certainly change things a bit if that were the case.

Lehmann and Lombard are the top of my wish list at this point. Just glad that it appears that Dero, Weiss, and Perez are not being considered. Ross apparently isn't either. I that wouldn't have been thrilled with Ross, but he's far from the worst option.

Kim is the only SS target we should be considering. He is somewhat affordable and won't require a long term deal. Give him 3/60 with a 4th year mutual/vesting option and let's be done with it.
