Hmmm... A 3 month sample at the start of his career where he pitched way over his head, or the last 270 innings. Imma take the last 270 innings.

FIP is trash if your placing actual value on pitchers. Elder has an ERA over 5.60 in his last 270 innings dating back to July of 2023. I don't really care what his FIP says over this time. That's a 2.5 year sample. At this point, he is what he is, which is a terrible pitcher.

    Again, you're missing the point.

Cease has an ERA closer to Bryce Elder than he does Michael King, who you say is a back of the rotation pitcher. I get that ERA is misleading and teams don't put much stock into it, but it also isn't completely irrelevant. I can promise you teams are taking note of Cease's mediocre season...

King has 1 bWAR and .8 fWAR through 70 innings. Elder has -.5 bWAR and .8 fWAR through 149 innings.

You are missing the entire point. There are plenty of quality options available (and yes these guys and the others I mentioned are indeed quality pitchers) which means a guy like Cease who is coming off a very mediocre season isn't going to be able to hold the market hostage trying to max out...

First season back from surgery. He has thrown half a season worth of starts.

GDT 9-21: Going for a Motor City Sweep on NFL Week 3

Dude just stop. Elder has the highest ERA in baseball since the start of 2024 with a 5.65 ERA. The next closest guy is Austin Gomber at 5.46. Elder is not a major league pitcher. Strider had a legitimately terrible 3 start stretch at the start of August. But other than that, he's been an above...

I said this at the time and Zito said Pitts was gonna be Jimmy Graham 2.0, lol. Taking a TE top 10 is terrible value unless they become the best TE in football. I said the same thing about Bowers last year and Bowers may be the best overall TE prospect that has ever come out. It's gotta be...

Dude is so mediocre I can't stand it. Colts have a great OL and he is mostly accurate. But he makes zero outstanding throws. I can't tell you how many times yesterday he dinked and dunked and let his receivers create something out of nothing. So frigging annoying.

Seems really weird they are going down when Baldwin is having great games and Horton isn't pitching.

    GDT 9-20: Drake at DH

If that were the plan, it likely would have already been announced, instead of dancing around the topic every time it's brought up. Snit has already said he wants to be back. AA has been non-committal.

The hope for Nacho is that he can become a Sal Frelick type of player. Provide great defense at multiple spots and carry an above average OBP. He's never going to be a strong everyday player though.

Horton better hope he didn't peak too early. The Reds are red hot (pun intended).

    2025-2026 offseason thread

I listed at least 6 pitchers who are either 3-4 WAR pitchers or better right now or who are projected to be roughly 3-4+ WAR pitchers in 2026. Most of them are under 31 years old. I'm not quite sure how young you are expecting a FA pitcher to be. But that's pretty standard. And then I posted a...

Kershaw to retire at the end of the season. Potentially may not make the post-season roster. Better career: Kershaw or Verlander? I feel like it's Verlander myself.
