So how do the Braves use the money that they won't be allowed to spend on Int FA

And many believe the draft shouldn't exist as well. Putting in some maximum amounts that a team can spend on amateur talent, domestically and internationally, each season along with some ability for a player to get an education while employed is something that many have been discussing in the...

    Rule 5

I'm thinking there's a chance that he's kept for his bat and the ability to be a 3rd catcher/PH. Cordoba hadn't played any full-season ball at all before last season. Torrens hadn't played above low-A and only 40 games at low-A. In the AFL, Pentecost was finally healthy and showed well behind...

So how do the Braves use the money that they won't be allowed to spend on Int FA

Things other than stat sheets...still in the system, he'd rank VERY high in my personal ranks, higher than Waters for certain.

    Rule 5

I don't. He showed well in the catching he did in Arizona, and every team had multiple reps there. He didn't get a ton of game time behind the plate, but he did a lot of working out behind the plate and showed very well.

Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

He's not the same Shae he was before he basically missed two seasons to injury.

    Rule 5

Your own Braves made such a deal last season. Alex Jackson was only traded with a PTBNL because the Braves had a preference for the second player in the trade, and that second player was Rule 5 eligible. If the Braves had acquired him, they would have had to choose whether or not to protect...

No one said that it would. Also, update your Ventura scouting report.

So how do the Braves use the money that they won't be allowed to spend on Int FA

I'm saying they'll trade talented guys they do know for the unknown shiny new toy that they believe could be better. Is Ventura better than any outfielder signed this past July? Certainly not. Has Ventura already shown more than many of these guys signed in July for that $1M+ ever will...

    Rule 5

Oh! Now I get what you're saying...go back in there to the previous page! The whole post is an offseason blueprint. On the previous page, I have the Braves trading Matt Kemp in a deal to the Twins and getting Burdi back.

    Rule 5

Roster Resource primarily. In the minor league section, their little notation a bit to the side where it'd say how many options a guy has left will indicate if he's Rule 5 eligible. The list posted at the top is good, but for some reason, it didn't translate perfectly - I let the guys at RR...

    Rule 5

Exactly. I like them both quite a bit. Espinal is still my #1 target because of his arm and the ability he'd bring right away to any bullpen.

Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Overrated and filling out in a hurry. I like the bat, but it's more of a .280/20 homer top end bat than a big power, big average bat, and his best quality behind the plate is his positioning and framing, as his run game work and lateral movement is needing some big work, something that adding...

Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

He also had a hamstring tear throughout the majority of the season that he played through. He's looked incredible at offseason workouts, in shape as good or better than he's been since signing. Maitan's swings before they went indoors were putting notable impressions on the walls 350-400' away...

    Rule 5

I cannot imagine they'd pluck him for an MLB job, though. He's a prime trade candidate if anyone wanted him based on his attitude (which is why he's missed a good chunk of the time, not so much actual injury). If looking at the Twins, the target would be Daniel Bard's brother Luke, a former...

So how do the Braves use the money that they won't be allowed to spend on Int FA

First, primarily the Orioles have been the ones trading IFA money, and well, the Orioles.... Second, most of the IFA deals have been for players fairly high up the ladder. The way to maximize the funds in trade is trading for a guy who hasn't hit full-season yet. Heck, even the Reds got a solid...

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

Correct, and the incorrect reporting that the $10K limit season is a 0 bonus year should also disappear from the lexicon as well. Then again, most people still think the Braves got punished for what they did with the 2016-2017 signing class, so understanding the details of the international...

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

Nah, why pay big prospect value for something they have in spades already as far as a hard-throwing reliever goes. The team has velocity available. That's never been the issue. I think you need to look harder at the system. The Twins arguably have the best relief corps of any minor league...

Let's just say his ban doesn't have anything to do with bundling contracts. I'm not at all allowed to release anything I've been told about it, though.

He's not doing any interviews until at least spring due to legal issues. I checked. I'd wager that book is a ways off. Regardless, he's got major issues to worry about on his own if he ever enters many of the countries again where he was working. He'll be imprisoned in a few for what he did.

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

I'd wager plenty of 300K contracts go out the next two seasons (Braves do have a significant amount of money left and could be players to teams interested in signing their players by trading their money, ironically). Then as the $10K restrictions hit, I'd wager every dollar of that gets traded...
