SATURDAY MINORS THREAD 5/12/18: No. 1s in spotlight

really good to see, was starting to worry about him a bit

SATURDAY GAME THREAD vs Marlins 5/12/18

the move to get Bautista was an attempt to get a true cleanup hitter on the cheap. It doesn't appear to be working out, but at least the GM is trying. His hands are tied on the payroll, and he doesn't wanna surrender the prospect capital if he doesn't have to... don't blame him at all for trying...

totally agree.. that pitch to Dietrich wasn't that bad, too much of the plate, but it was down. Good hitting

Not the best route by Ender there. Probably not a catchable ball, but no chance with that route.

will be very interested to see how Mike responds after that play

I wonder if Acuna's massive jump distracted Garcia and perhaps contributed to the horrible location of that slider

Apologies, misunderstood your abbreviation. Also, didn't realize Soroka threw a 4 seamer - are you sure that 0-2 pitch was one?

SATURDAY GAME THREAD vs Marlins 5/12/18

Ummmmm......no. Missed his spot, that is all. It's at least a 60 grade pitch, and it's the main reason why he's in the big leagues at age 20

Yes, those are 2 very important pieces of that puzzle. But that is only the 1st step (at least in the big leagues). The true hallmark of command is the ability to put the ball into a certain portion of the strike zone, consistently, time and time again, regardless of what pitch is being thrown...

very seriously doubt it - they are going to give Bautista a pretty long leash to get it going i think ... the potential payoff is way too big to be pulling ABs from him this soon. He'll get another month at least, and probably more if the team keeps on winning w/out a true middle-of-the-order...

THURSDAY MINORS FINAL 5/10/18: Sims shines in sunlight

No doubt, the biggest disappointment on the farm so far in 2018. Still has plenty of time to turn it around though. Would be HUGE if he turned out to be a guy

Last 3 or 4 games, no doubt about it - Newcomb has reached unprecedented levels w/ his command (While Folty has been trending the other way, IMO). Based on what little knowledge I have, just my own observations: here's how I rank them, in terms of their current ability to command the baseball...

already gave them to you in a previous post... but I'll repeat since you asked nicely: command & control are two completely different discussions. you are talking control, I'm talking command.

Maybe... could also be a chance that last year's dominance was a blip on the radar. There's a reason or 2 that Mariners traded him... and just as a preemptive parry against the binary thinkers in here, this comment is coming from a HUGE Gohara fan. Just saying, we might all be putting...

What a nice way to get Gohara's feet wet for 2017. I got to admit, Snitker has been managing the team much better this season. He's been pulling the right strings with these guys and deserves some credit for it. Didn't think I'd ever say as much coming into this year.

agree 100%... during both of those ABs I was desperately wanting to see the FB up & in on the hands, just once to get those guys off the outer 3rd

Great point... I also have been wondering if they brought him up for pen work to get some mechanical issues worked out? I know the Chuckster isn't the most beloved pitching coach around here, but maybe he & Gohara worked well together last year and they are hoping CH can find the right tweak...
