I’ll be pissed too if that happens, but perhaps take a breath and realize he can’t say “player x” will rotate in if he hasn’t acquired player x yet. Bellinger is the most obvious fit, but believe it when I see it. I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Conforto for a bounceback year.

    Coaching staff changes

The Braves hired a 39-year-old data-driven guy, just not to the spot on the coaching staff we thought

A necessity since we likely aren’t going to be able to retain Kim, Story won’t be available, and there’s not much else available outside AA pulling a stunner of a trade. Can’t have openings at both middle infield spots.

Weiss interview with 680 was mostly fine, but reading in between the lines it does seem like the thing that will likely trip him up the most is leaving the starter in an inning too long. I don’t think it’s the train wreck that some do but still going to be a wait and see for me. How he and/or...

If given the choice, I think Walt would take Chipper over Hyers. Guys have been fired before. I haven’t had a chance to read and listen to everything from today yet. Heard some of AA’s radio interview on the drive home. He talked about how Weiss of course interviewed early on and AA said to...

From what I’ve seen Weiss said the right things about analytics and information. That’s only what it’s worth until we see it in action.

Keith Lockhart for bench coach. Brian Jordan and Brian Hunter for base coaches.

I doubt Lehmann would have interviewed poorly unless an old schmuck like McGuirk was just not on board at all. More likely is he's been offered an absurd amount to stay with the Dodgers and be manager in waiting or the Padres are eyeing him.

A guy plugged in pretty deep with the minors system says he’s been told Weiss is one of the closest members of the organization with Ronald. That might be a slight redeeming point for him. But meh.

By that time Freeman will be retiring and he will replace Weiss.

Or literally any of the other 10+ candidates discussed with the exception of DeRo. I’d rather have Eric Young but I suspect he will be back as a bench coach or third base.

Even if the Dodgers swooped in and made an astronomical offer to Lehmann to be the manager in waiting for when Roberts decides he’s done, it doesn’t excuse not going with Lombard or even Ross. If we were going old dude, I would have offered it to Bob Melvin.

I could go either way. A lot thought that Snit was probably told, “we love you but you can’t come back” and that was likely not the case.

Bowman had some sort of weird tweet that made it seemed like someone had tipped him off it was going to be an internal hire earlier today.

We can only hope against hope that he has taken the last month to have some serious talks with Weiss about adapting. The makeup of the staff will be the tale of the tape.

It’s also hilarious that Passan had it before the beat guys and the team announcement (I think). Edit: nvm looks like he didn’t report it before the announcement
