Lara could be one of those guys who they somehow tweak his delivery and he then throws quality strikes going forward. The arm strength is obviously there and as we've seen countless times over the years, pitchers can turn on a dime performance-wise in either direction. It's just unlocking it...

Curious to see if this decision has any influence on how the front office approaches the off-season personnel-wise. Like Waitingfor2017 just posted, this smacks of "we've built a great team and the window remains open so we're only going to adjust around the margins." I respect Anthopoulos...

Clohisy is a speed guy. Led the Sally League with 60 SBs in 92 games and then stole 19 more in 39 games when promoted to Mississippi. Currently leading the Arizona Fall League with 17 SBs. Bat will be the question. Looks like meager power. I've wrote in the past how guys with this profile...

You'd figure that O'Brien would get some pillow talk from Anthopoulos from all of the spooning Dave wants to do with him. Hopefully they will get a bench coach that at least has knowledge of how a slide rule works. For you youngsters, the slide rule was our hand calculator before the ones that...

Has Shanks weighed in? I was hoping for a fresh slate from the manager on down to the coaching staff and the minor league development staff. I have nothing against Weiss personally, but as others have said there are already enough dinosaurs in the La Brea tarpits. We don't need another...

How many openings remain? Lehman will likely have options to consider. From the Braves angle, Lehman may the first choice with Lombard a fallback.

I'm curious which way the Twins will go. As the article points out, they may try to augment the existing roster with the money they shedd at the deadline or they may just shed some more and go full rebuild. If they take the latter route, that would probably mean they would take offers on...

Do y'all think it's possible for the Braves to ever become a window-less team, ala the Dodgers n Yankees?

But Anthopoulos did this to himself to some extent. As I've written before, each of the extensions makes sense when considered individually, but it's the sum of them that has bumped them up to the next threshold and if ownership doesn't want to exceed that amount the team is stuck to some...

Agree, but I hope that there is a serious sit-down to talk about roster construction. Look at the Dodgers. They have a set of guys that can not only play multiple positions, but play them well. Braves simply do not have that and that really limits in-game maneuvering.

Did Barger get deaked? I know the noisemeter was in the deep red on Lonnie's miscue, but when in doubt, look for the ball.

If you're talking about Barger, that's a Little League baserunning mistake. He's not scoring on that if it falls, so why go halfway?

Fans' pulses went up a whole two beats up here in Minnesota with this announcement. Shelton does have experience with the Twins as bench coach under Molitor and one year under Baldelli. He also interviewed for the position prior to Baldelli being hired. So, there is familiarity there but this...

If you're talking about having the runner on 2nd at the start of each extra inning, he may try but it would be stupid to do that in the wake of a classic game. I think the rule makes sense in the regular season to save wear and tear on players (especially pitching staffs), but I think last...

Depends on how the rest of his contract plays out, but having memorable moments on the big stage certainly puts an image in fans' minds. Reggie Jackson was on as many World Series winners with the A's as he way with the Yankees, but his three-HR night against the Dodgers in Game 6 of the 1977...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Curious at a level. It's hard to pin much--if any--blame on Davis unless they have identified something that they believe is contributing heavily to arm problems. He's probably not the one who is rushing guys who aren't ready into the bigs. Braves have done a good job with reclamation...
