    Minor League Thread Part Deux

They've really invested heavily on position players in the international market, but most of the premium signees haven't shown up. It's still early for a lot of them, but Benitez Tavarez, and to a great extent Glod are played out. Jury is out on Guanipa because he can't stay healthy. Curioius...

GDT 8/26: Hurston vs. Sandy, No Drake, 6:40 start

Possibly. So much of the team is feast-or-famine when it comes to hitting. I think that's where a lot of fans got misled by 2023 when it was feast all year long and pretty much the entire line-up hit like crazy for the whole season. Albies has been banged up and while he's more disciplined...

    GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Former Brave 3rd-round pick from 2017 Freddie Tarnok takes the hill.

Marlins' pitcher Gusto is malo el gusto este la tarde. Thanks Google translate!

Agree on Harris, but worried that Albies might be fool's gold.

We are lucky Jacob Marsee thinks he's Ronald Acuna.

I don't know why they don't give him a day off. He's surpassed Murphy's consecutive game streak and although he takes pride in taking the field every night, he's been scuffling.

    GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

I think if anyone can re-invent himself (although he might not need to do that), it's someone like Strider. He's a cerebral guy and still has enough raw stuff to rely on in a pinch. Looks like a great mix last night. His repertoire is so good he can pitch backwards if he has to.

I would hope not if they are out of the race.

    GDT 8-25: Striding in Miami

Who joins the team next week from AAA or the DL? Burkhalter has to go one the 40-man over the winter, so I would think he's a likely candidate. Sale off the DL. That would leave room for one more.

I've been griping since the FCL season ended a month ago that it has prevented recent HS draftees from having a place to appropriately get their feet underneath them. I honestly don't know what MLB is thinking seeing they let the Dominican Summer League regular season go on until last week...

GDT 8/22/25: Braves vs Mets - Getting That Elite Extension

If this indeed turns out to be a lost season, we've at least been given the opportunity to see some guys in extended playing time. At the very least, Alvarez could be the back-up IF the team desperately needs. Team still needs a starting SS, but Alvarez could plug in there for a few innings if...

Longtime Braves Scout Roy Clark Has Passed Away

He and Paul Snyder were an excellent player development team. They really put a great blueprint in place that fueled the 1990s-early aughts teams. It didn't hurt than Schuerholz had access to Ted Turner's wallet, but when you think of all the homegrown talent that was on those teams it's a...

That was Dustin Peterson that got banged up in the bus crash. Maybe Davidson was on board the same bus and maybe he did miss some time (too lazy to look it up), but I know Peterson was out for a couple of weeks and he really wasn't the same player after that. As for Southisine, his hands look...

We won't know until we see more of McCabe at the AAA level, but there are several teams that are really scuffling at the position. With Olson in tow for the next few seasons, there probably isn't a place for McCabe in Atlanta, but (depending on performance) he should at least earn a look at the...

Clohisy is worth watching. Big SB numbers when in Rome. Still the South Atlantic League leader with 60 even though he hasn't been there for two weeks. Depending on how rosters are constructed in Atlanta or elsewhere, he's the kind of player who could find himself contributing provided he...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Again, if one goes into Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine, guys like McCabe were pretty common when there were 6 guys on the bench. But most teams currently carry only 4, largely because of the DH. The versatility angle is important. I can remember McCabe was mentioned in a Keith Law article that...

He was on fire last week. He supposedly is no gazelle in the field, but a switch-hitter who can play the corners wouldn't be a bad thing to have on the bench.

GDT 8-13: No Baldwins in Queens Tonight

Not that it means anything, but in a vote by all 33 of mlb.com's individual team correspondents, Baldwin got 24 first-place votes, Marlins' C Ramirez got 4 and Collins got 3.
