What to do with Uggla now?

Well, the Braves pretty much have no choice but to hope that BJ finds his swing again. I'm inclined to believe that his problems were mostly mental (he hit just fine in Spring Training), and maybe a fresh start will make him hit somewhere over .200. It's not like we've got a choice. He has 4...

What to do with Uggla now?

I've always wondered exactly how much of a difference LASIK makes to a hitter. Some have argued that it's worse than PEDs, but Uggla is a pretty strong piece of evidence to the contrary, lol. I wonder if a site like Fangraphs has ever done a study on the before and after of a player getting...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I only ever park in the Fulton County stadium lot.Getting in and out is annoying, but not too bad if you're at least a little patient. And they're going to need a lot more than $14M to make a dent in the Cobb Parkway traffic. It's already gridlocked most all the time. If I go to a game at the...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

"Cumberland District taxes* Welp, looks like I'll be paying for part of the stadium myself. Y'all can thank me later.

What to do with Uggla now?

If I were Wren, I'd try to sell Uggla as being an OBP machine. Because despite everything else that he sucked at last year, he was still pretty decent at drawing a walk. You never know, there might be a team out there craving someone who can do that....

Braves Reach Deal With Jonny Venters

Worth the gamble, imo. Even if he never touches 94-96 again, he'll still be a solid relief option. Here's hoping he doesn't experience Beachy level setbacks. I can imagine Fredi's brain melting trying to decide whose arm he should try to wreck more, Avilan, or his old flame, Everyday Jonny...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I'm well aware. There's a huge list of teams that don't play in their actual city. The 49ers are another team about to join that list. I was just laying out the facts, since there are some people that do care about it. Was sort of surprised about that, really.

Lord BABIP and Other Cool Braves Nicknames

Referring to Dan Kolb as "Klobb" always made me giggle. Because anyone who ever played Goldeneye for N64 knows, both the relief pitcher and the gun weren't exactly the most effective options to get the job done.

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Darn, I guess locals won't be able to crank call Fredi as easily anymore. Also, the new stadium will definitely be well past any "Atlanta: City Limits" signs. So the Atlanta address would be symbolic at best.

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

In all seriousness, if they ever made a statue of Bobby, I would want it to be of him jawing off to an umpire. Anything less just wouldn't feel right.

    Statheads vs. Scoutheads (Version 99.2)

Well, looking at their stats, both pitched around 200 innings with an ERA+ of about 122. So stat-wise, it makes total sense for them to be the same. Felix gave up 3 less hits, and 10 less walks over 4 more innings pitched. So was he better? Yeah, he was. But not by a tremendous margin...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Basically he's just saying he was unwilling to take on the extra debt the money the Braves were requesting, and that no way was he going to help finance 2 stadiums at once. As for the existing land, he plans to demolish the Ted and replace it with the "largest development for middle class...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Of the two, between the city of Atlanta, and the Braves, I'm inclined to believe the Braves' side of the story. I mean, just think about it. How do the Braves benefit from lying about dragging their feet on improving the area surrounding the Ted? It's in their best interests to try and make the...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Absolutely. From all I've read, the Braves have made multiple requests to Atlanta over matters regarding the stadium and the surrounding property, and have been all but ignored. I'm sure the Falcons' stadium was one of the last straws. It's kind of like if you live in an apartment, and your...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Honestly, I hope they don't do anything too wacky with field dimensions. Historically parks that heavily favor hitters (Coors, GAB), or pitchers (Petco, Safeco) feature home teams that struggle to contend. Give me a mostly neutral playing field any day. If they want to go crazy beyond the...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9959440/atlanta-braves-leaving-turner-field-relocating-cobb-county-2017 "The reason for moving is simple," the team said in a statement on the website. "The current location has certain issues that are insurmountable and will only become more problematic over...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I can believe that part. Used to work for UGA, and the only thing people ever used to ask me when they found out was "How 'bout dem dawgs?". When in reality, I'm not much of a college football person. And makes sense about the Falcons... especially now that they're 2-7. I guess I'm one of...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Well, I guess my point is that they were willing to find something to tax to make the money happen for the Falcons, but apparently not for the Braves. I understand most people prefer the NFL in this day and age, but still. From the outside it looks like they didn't try as hard to keep the Braves...

DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

Funny thing is, if Mac leaves I think I'll miss him more for his gamecalling/pitch framing than his actual bat. He was only a slightly above average hitter last year, but it was noticeable how much better some of our pitchers got when they threw to him. Everyone seems to say he belongs in the...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

So... basically what Mayor Reed is saying there, is that that there was no way the Braves were staying without taxpayer money being put into the stadium? Taxpayer money... like what's going into the Falcons' new stadium? Am I understanding that correctly? I guess it's not worth paying out money...
