The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I always just bite the bullet and pay for parking in an assigned lot (I usually get green). I've been to many Braves games and never had an issue, mostly just because I make sure to stay around a crowd at all times. My dad (grew up in NYC) always taught me that's the best way to avoid trouble...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Maybe I should have been more specific, lol. I live in the Cumberland/Vinings area, and my apartment complex is almost on that map. And there are just as many black people around here as white people. So in terms of the whole county, I suppose it could be mostly white. But in terms of where the...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

Yeah, not sure where all the black people are scary stuff is coming from. As I said, I live in Cobb, and it's roughly 50/50 in the population here. Don't get me wrong, though. I think the current Turner Field is fine, for all its warts in the surrounding area. But clearly there were rumblings...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

As I said before, the only way I can see this working is if most of that space is for parking. If not, it's going to be awful. I literally live within walking distance of their proposed site, and I'm not sure if I'd brave it (no pun intended, ha) more than a few times a year unless they have a...

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I've not actually taken MARTA around here, but I do know that there are lots of buses that run to Cumberland Mall and the Galleria. So it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see buses running to the stadium, given how close it will be to those locations.

The Braves are moving to Cobb County

I actually live right off Cumberland Blvd, and I of course love the Braves, so this announcement is a pretty big deal to me. I'm finding myself kind of torn, though. On one side, awesome. While I actually really like Turner Field aesthetically, and there's not a bad view in the house (that...

Rangers Tried to Trade for Justin Upton

I guess they figured "Hey, we fooled the Braves before, maybe they'll be suckers again!" Good thing Schuerholtz isn't at the helm anymore, or else we might be having a different conversation. It wouldn't look so bad if they'd have at least offered Profar. I mean, we'd still say no, but geez.

    Saga of Jeff Francoeur continues

Hire him as a third hitting coach. Just tell all the players "Whatever he tells you to do, do the exact opposite." George Costanza principle.

    Pastornicky

As many here have said, it probably has to do with either A) The Braves thinking LaStella simply isn't ready for the show, or B) They want him up in the majors, but they don't want to bring him up, and then send him right back down whenever Uggla or Pastor return, or if there's a trade brewing...

Teams will be given three challenges starting in 2014

Well, yeah. But those hires would make it more palatable to the Umpires Union, and of course everyone else would appreciate the drastic drop in obviously blown calls. It really shouldn't be as big of an issue, since everyone in baseball just loves to say how the game is more profitable than it...

Teams will be given three challenges starting in 2014

I don't understand why they can't simply utilize the idea that so many have mentioned before: just add a fifth umpire to every crew that sits in a film room, and reviews any play that seems sketchy. The idea of challenges might sort of work for football, but baseball is obviously not football...

Please Put Uggla Out of Our Misery

Just imagine how good our lineup would be if Uggla and BJ were simply league average? Not even good, league average. Some days I feel more comfortable with the pitcher up at bat than these guys. It's a tough spot, and I liked the Uggla trade when it happened, but I'm past wondering if he'll...

    I'll just leave this here.

    Freddie Freeman

I think his LOB% (Not left on base - Love of Baseball) is off the scale. I mean, he hugs his teammates, who are all baseball players. How could you love baseball more than that? He's quickly turned into one of my favorites, and is an anchor to that lineup. Sure, he swings a lot, but he makes...

    Bourn vs Bossman

One variable I always wonder about with BJ is how much of a shot at Justin we would've had if we hadn't signed BJ. Sure, BJ has been putrid (60 OPS+, yick), but Justin has been excellent, despite his 3 month slump. I'm going to be a bit optimistic and say that overall, the Upton brothers will...

    Bryce Harper Megathread

Well, that was kind of my original point. I don't mind talking to fans of other teams, as long as they're intelligent and capable of discussion that doesn't make my ears bleed. And yeah, bronies are a scary lot.

Predictions for the rest of the year...

I don't think the Braves will win 100 games, mostly because they don't seem to play as well against teams with losing records, for some reason. The record is less important to me than just making sure everyone is healthy and not in a vicious slump when it's playoff time.

    Bryce Harper Megathread

In a cab on my way to Long Island, when I was up in New York visiting relatives. I forget how we got on the topic of baseball, but my cabbie was obviously a Yankees fan. We started talking about how I was a Braves fan, and he had nothing but nice things to say (not too hard, I know, when we've...

    Bryce Harper Megathread

I don't personally think that his "six feet under" comment is anything to get upset over. If it was, then why aren't we complaining about Freeman talking about stepping on the Nats' necks? Then again, his preferred form of assassination would probably be a bear hug or something anyway.

    Bryce Harper Megathread

I think Harper probably has more talent than any young player in the game right now, but it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest he won't have much in the way of longevity, with how he plays. Not that there's any shame in that, but he could afford to turn it down a notch if he doesn't want to cut...
