MINORS FINAL WEDNESDAY 5/10: Midweek matinees

Acuna is so impressive. After a pretty poor start to this year, he has absolutely exploded. His OPS now for 2017, Advanced A and AA combined, is .910! Victor Robles, who is 7 months older, in Advanced A, and who has been getting much more hype for his year so far, has an OPS of .852.

MINORS FINAL WEDNESDAY 5/10: Midweek matinees

Sweet. Mississippi might turn into another 2016 Rome juggernaught the second half of the year.

MINORS FINAL WEDNESDAY 5/10: Midweek matinees

Acuna with another easy 3 for 4 day with a bomb and a walk. I hope he finds AA even a little bit challenging.

MONDAY MINORS FINAL 4/17 ... Some early stats are ... wow.

Bryse Wilson appears to be hard to hit, .171 batting average against over his minor league career so far, very impressive. Kid seems very smart too. He had a 4.5 GPA in high school.

MINORS THREAD 4/14 .... FRIDAY GAMES; Anderson goes at noon

All the kids in Rome are on an 80 pitch count limit if I remember correctly.

MINORS THREAD 4/14 .... FRIDAY GAMES; Anderson goes at noon

So far, very happy the Braves selected Ian Anderson instead of Jason Groome. :) BTW, why is Jason Groome's name Jay Groome all of a sudden?

Quick look at the players we wish the Braves had acquired

What are the chances Jason Castro has turned into a good hitter all of a sudden? It's 7 or 8 games into the season. He's a career .700 OPS guy which is where he probably about where his batting line will be at the end of the year. Same story with Margot..it's been 7 games.

MONDAY MINORS 4/10 ... A.M. Baseball in Mississippi; Touki awesome

Good point. Saw the fangraph article today about how Mallex could be the new king of bunting and that he works hard at bunting every day. Talk about focusing on a pretty inefficient way of hitting. I find it hard to believe a player can become a very useful hitter by focusing on slapping...

    Otis Nixon Is Missing

That article said he had a crack relapse recently..hope this isn't somehow related to that. Addiction can be extremely hard to get rid of 100%.

MONDAY MINORS 4/10 ... A.M. Baseball in Mississippi; Touki awesome

Alex Jackson and Gohara could make the Mariners look really stupid a couple of years down the road.

MONDAY MINORS 4/10 ... A.M. Baseball in Mississippi; Touki awesome

I hope Wentz isn't still experiencing the dead arm and lack of velocity he had the last month of last season. I hope everything is ok with him health wise. Anyone know how his velocity was?

SUNDAY FINAL 4/9 ....Rome sweeps; Gwinnett breaks into W col.; M-Braves rally 13th

I am starting to get a bit excited about Alex Jackson. He is hitting the crap out of the ball so far. Hopefully he can get the rust off catching defensively over time because he has been pretty rough so far. I am crossing my fingers that Jackson hits his way up to AA before the year is out.

MINORS THREAD 4/8 ... Saturday FINAL; Rome stays perfect

You realize we have a couple of dozen potential 3 and 4 starters in our system, right? Those aren't that hard to find, compared to a potential starting catcher, especially in our catcher barren system. And, really, are Povse's chances to be a real every day 3 or 4 starters in the majors all that...

MINORS THREAD 4/8 ... Saturday FINAL; Rome stays perfect

Yep, agreed. I like the trade because we sold two lower ceiling guys for a potential high ceiling guy but with a lower probability of working out (the guys we traded had a higher floor). I don't think Povse projects to anything more than a solid 3 or 4 in a rotation while Alex Jackson has the...

MINORS THREAD 4/8 ... Saturday FINAL; Rome stays perfect

Baseball America posted their annual youngest player in each league article: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/whos-youngest-league-opening-day-2017/#t3ILlH4RRZAuPd8I.97 Albies is easily the youngest player in AAA, almost a full year younger than the next youngest guy. Allard and Soroka...

    Fangraphs Top 32 Braves Prospects

One correction. The Marlins actually are tied with the Diamondbacks in the Fangraph ratings so far with a total surplus over 35 FV grade of 95. Their system has even less 40+FV prospects than the Diamondbacks, only 13. The Angels might give those two a run for worst system when their review...

    GDT: 2/25/17 Spring Opener!

Is Maitan in camp? If so, any chance he plays in any of these games or is he too young, only there for instructional?

    Fangraphs Top 32 Braves Prospects

They've reviewed a little over half the majors so far, including some top ones like the White Sox and Dodgers, and based on the lists, the Braves clearly have the best system. What I like about the way Fangraphs does their lists is that they don't arbitrarily just make a top 10 or 20 list for...

FRI MINORS Championships: ROME WINS; Gwinnett eliminated

Nice attitude, didn't know we had a scouting genius at this board. Why aren't you working in the Braves front office?
