haven't thought about Alcantra since last offseason.. he was high on my list of wants then.. need to see how his season ended and who he is even with now.. I thought I remember him being traded last deadline.. but could be mis-remembering.

parties are ok.. but at my age now, I much prefer a good Bourbon (getting into the smoking kit my kids got me) and a chill evening with wife and a movie.. or by myself with sports.. wasn't blessed with a woman who loves sports..

that didn't actually happen.. I actually met my wife while waiting tables working my way through college.. she was on a date at the time.. oh and as for being fun at parties.. I do statistical forecasting/data governance for financial risk and economical capital for a major southeastern bank...

The Braves aren’t the only team that viewed Kim as a solid rebound candidate. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that the 30-year-old rebuffed interest from clubs willing to go multiple years in order to get back to the market next winter. The Tigers were the only other team publicly linked to Kim this...

It is cute that people are buying the narrative that the Braves gambled on Kim so that they would have the opportunity to pay him in free agency. And I met my wife while in line to buy a power ball ticket so I guess I won the lottery too.... it makes for great click bait and Hollywood...

I am also on board with a trade or signing another mlb quality starter pushing others to the pen and allowing the Braves to trade elder in spring training ( or as a kick in in another trade). I already rate this offseason a success but another quality player would put this as exceptional.

Well since you mentioned it. dOB is wrong as usual. The Braves traded for Kim as a gamble that they would get to pay him 16 million to play SS in 2026. I liked that gamble. But it didn’t pay off. The Braves getting to pay him 20 million to play is because Kim was a free agent. The...

I agree. Shocked Kim took a one year deal. But this makes all the other offensive signings so much better. It is nice to know there is actual MLB talent on the bench now. I also agree with others that this gives me hope that I am wrong about twit2.0. I think AA wouldn’t have spent this...

That’s fair. But Zips uses historical performance and performance curves along with comps to build a projection. It is a model that will never assume more playing time or starting time at a position. It would assume he would play the same number of games as always while being a DH/catcher...

to be fair on that 2 war number... he only started as catcher in 50 some odd games that year.. So double that to 100 and that alone is a 2 war bump on his total (assuming all things remain the same, which is an unknown) so assuming his .800+ OPS was real.. even small increases in his defense...

I can't speak to Bref.. I don't ever use their WAR system as I feel it is always inferior to fnagraphs... I would have to educate myself on their calcs to even try to speak intelligently about it. I would assume they use blocking as a big factor and they may have a huge positional bump for...

what am I wrong about.. twit is a dummy murph is terrible harris was overweight AA hasn't done anything the past few years and looking like some fringe moves again this year.. (even said this can be a great offseason with a few more moves.. but not sure he is going to) I think you think you...

if you think .700ish OPS is better than good, then I guess you are correcty.. If you think a catcher on the wrong side of 30 with a bad hip is going to still be top of league blocker and thrower, then I guess you are right I mean, AA has basically said Murph is a part time player.. Profar is...

don't be mad that I call them as I see them.. I've been the schwelly hype man since his first stat cast data.. been the most vocal that Strider will return to form with conditioning and rest this offseason. The Sale trade was perfect for this team.. used an asset that had no place and got a...

Um.. what stats are we looking at for Meth.. dude had 1.5 good season offensively and everything else is average to below average at best.. once framing is taken out of WAR calcs, he will be a 1 to maybe 2 war player.. he is already on the wrong side of 30 and can't handle hot weather.. And...

And all kinds of pumped about watching Yaz and Dubon be starters for 145 games instead of getting legit difference makers. Just another offseason of AA doing bare minimum to appease the fans.

To the surprise of no one but a few methhead homers. Murph will miss time(most likely significant amount) this year. What a trade that was.

A six man rotation means one less pen guy. Which means the manager is probably going to extend his starters longer than they should. I am not sure a six man rotation is the best way. Not saying it isn’t either. Just that is is not as simple as saying the Braves need to do X. I...
