I don’t see Bichette as an AA-type player/sign. He’s going to get paid a lot and can’t play SS, but you’ll be paying him like a great hitting SS.

So what? What use does the ranking stipulation have? As Cy said, the same goal is accomplished without it. Could make the argument that if a team really believes in a guy who isn’t ranked, that they’re incentivized to keep him down and get an extra year of control since they won’t be rewarded...

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

And you don’t see how that’s dumb? There will be a time where a fringe top 100 guy wins it, and isn’t on each necessary list. This is dumb. You can say it’s dumb, man. It’s dumb to incorporate the lists. Yes, the pick is the reward. Leave it there. Incorporating subjective top prospect lists...

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

What do those guys have to do with lists? Why should a team with a ROTY who wasn’t on top prospects lists not be rewarded? I’m ok with rewarding teams for bringing their guys up. Shouldn’t that be the case with or without subjective lists?

But isn’t awarding the pick for ROY supposed to take care of that? The lists are arbitrary and inaccurate. It’s a really dumb wrinkle on a debatably dumb idea.

Having to be on top 100 lists is incredibly stupid. Reward teams for having their guys up and developing players well, fine. But not counting it if they didn’t make top 100 lists? I don’t know why they should matter.

Might be able to get #200 in the 20th round too though, got to appreciate that approach

As a Braves fan, I will enjoy being the beneficiary of it and will save my bitching for when a Brave doesn’t win it

I anticipate being disappointed by this off-season. Maybe it’s just PTSD from last offseason plus the last two deadlines, but I just can’t see AA having $60m+ to spend.

    2026 Payroll

Why are you bitching so much about what a GM said on a radio show or whatever? You’re definitely old enough to not put any stock in that right? And no, this isn’t me being a fan justifying not going after an OF, or defending AA from anything. Before you lose control and abandon the tiniest bit...

Sure, it’s possible. I think it’s likely Boras was taking him to FA regardless. I don’t think Kim is ruled out though. Boras knows what Atlanta is willing to pay, and Kim does have some say in where he goes as well. I think getting him in Atlanta for even the short time was valuable there.

They have Cam’s “ceiling” as a top 40 fantasy SP…I know what that means, but I don’t really know what that means…

If Kim ends up getting ~3/$45 and it isn’t with Atlanta, my concern about $ will go into hyperdrive. He is worth that gamble, and this team being so devoid of any SS option shouldn’t pass it up.

Yeah I don’t care what a RP’s ERA was over 25 innings. He’s a journeyman who has literally never been good over anything resembling a sufficient sample size. If AA picked up that option I’d be more concerned he has very little money and felt Tyler Kinley for $5.5m is the best he’ll be able to do.
