That one truly stands out as bad. I think Murphy gets that and more today on the open market with the league’s catcher situation. Strider questionable.

I think trading Harris would be dumb. He will be 25 all year. He can rebound.

Somehow a bunch of contenders missed this memo. I’ll call Lumberg

Seems like people forget how great Iglesias has been. He had a rough start to last year. Otherwise he’s been ridiculously reliable, consistent, and healthy. I’m personally averse to relievers who walk tons of guys on the reg as well.

Yes, I said even at 3/$45m, which Williams surpassed, I’d rather have Iglesias for one year.

Also have to consider the fact that some guys may be getting written off too early. Riley was a really good hitter in 2024. Harris will be 25 the entire year. There’s a good bit of variability here. It could certainly click for a few years

People have definitely questioned the Olson extension. I think it’s been good. He would’ve been a FA after his monster 2023. He would have easily surpassed what he had left which was 6/$132m with a 7th year club option at $20m.

I understand your overall point and don’t necessarily disagree. That said, I think it’s a touch more nuanced than that as far as liking the extensions at the time and then judging the results. I don’t know the future, but I would hope AA had mapped something out. If the extensions truly locked...

It would be an interesting dynamic to have the guy whose extension strategy failed leading the way of trading those extended players.

I think that’s fair. But three straight years of disappointment with this hypothetical of the season going south, and two years missing the playoffs with a decent payroll…idk, I think there should be a serious discussion. He decided to go the extension strategy route, and if it leads to three...

It feels all too possible that without a major FA period, this team’s window is effectively closed.

7/210 feels like a lot for cease to me. If he were going to get 7 years, I would’ve expected less AAV. If he got $30m AAV I’d have expected less years. 7/210 is an aggressive offer

Clarke sounds like Mick Abel based on that description, and FG consistently gave Abel the benefit of the doubt because of his stuff until it was super obvious he wasn’t a very good prospect. Think it’s as simple as the stuff is tantalizing.

Not saying it’s not the case, I just really doubt seager is opposed to playing in Atlanta.

I just disagree. Don’t want to give a RP with control issues 3/$45m. I’ll take the low-risk 1/$16m.

I think his season affected the amount he’ll get, but I don’t think it necessarily will make him some sort of bargain. Iggy didn’t have a great year and multiple teams wanted to pay him $16m. That says Williams will still see a significant pay day.
