Would be a bummer for opposing teams if we added a TOR to the rotation.

Indeed. I think it would be foolish to jettison quality depth (Elder) just because someone like Grant Holmes may be a better 5th starter. These things have a way of working themselves out.

FWIW I was off by a bit after the Kim signing. Fangraphs currently has the Braves with 45.8 WAR which is a 93-94 win season.

I hope we do get that TOR starter so all the AA bashers have to eat crow. I'll be up in everyone's asshole if that happens.

I really doubt we'd get Kim for 1 season if we hadn't traded for him. That was the gamble. Same could be the same for Iggy and not trading him at the deadline. AAs deadline looking better now too.

Ignore this fool. He doesn't think any team is a legit contender unless they are stacked like the Dodgers

Both of those guys are projected to be 3 WAR guys and would likely push Lopez to the pen. It would add 2-3 wins.

Kim signing pushes the Steamer projected wins to over 90 now. That's usually the gold standard of having a really competitive team.

Xa Dubon had a 111 WRC+ agaisnt LHP last year. That's more than acceptable considering both are good defenders. That being said. That's likely only going to be the case until Murphy comes back. That's the better platoon partner you are looking for.

Actually I think it speaks more to the Brewers development of catchers. It's the thing they do. Since 2010 (When Lucroy showed up) the Brewers +180 DRS for catchers is by far the best in baseball.

WRC+ over 120 in 2020, 2022, and 2023. Those are good offensive seasons regardless of what position he plays. WRC+ of 100 in 2021 was good for a catcher. Murphy was 7th in throwing last year and 5th in blocking. That's with him being out over half the year. The injury concern is real but he's...

    1) He's had more than 1.5 good seasons offensively. 2) Framing is just a part of catcher defense and Murphy, while good at it, isn't just what makes him a good defensive catcher. In terms of runs saved since 2020 Murphy is 12th in framing, 10th in throwing, and first in blocking. ABS is not...

Elder would be ass out of the pen. Again, the idea is how to get our 4 best starters healthy at the end of the year. Less starts throughout the year with a 6 man rotation could be one of the ways to get there. Moving on from Elder when the team has had a serious lack of depth the last two years...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

After a year where the Braves had zero sp depth you want to trade someone who's healthy and an acceptable 5th starter? The smart idea is to go with a 6 man rotation and let him be the 6th guy. Not because he's the 6th best but because he's out of options and pitchers like Holmes can start in...

Zips isn't out for everybody yet. But Steamer has that group with 88-89 wins.
