Skubal is gonna require a 400+ million contract. I just hope it isn't from a NL East team or the Dodgers. I will say, if someone wants to sign him to one of those sweet Dodger deals, they are gonna need to trade for him right now. I get the feeling that the MLB is gonna nip those deals in the...

Bryce's value came from being cheap, durable, and having options so that you didn't have to keep him on the ML roster. Now that he is out options, that value is gone. He simply isn't among top 6 or 7 best SP options right now. So unless we're gonna try him in the pen, he doesn't have a roster...

Dang. I REALLY liked Pomeranz. I thought he was one of the best arms on the market when FA started. That is super cheap. It's hard to believe he didn't have a bigger market than that, even with 2025 being his first MLB action in over 3 years. He was pretty dominant. He's from TN as well, so...

Between Wentz, Waldrep, and Holmes that is 3 guys currently on the roster who can provide similar or better production than Elder. Then you have prospects on the 40 man like Ritchie and Fuentes who certainly have the raw talent to be better than Elder, though maybe "expecting" them to be better...

9.5 million is not very good value for a guy like Bummer. I think we'll need to eat a little to move him. We didn't think Pierce Johnson was worth 7 million, and he's a better pitcher than Bummer.

He has the highest ERA in baseball over the last 2+ seasons. He was 8-11 overall. And we went 14-14 in his starts because he had the best run support on the staff. So yes, he is indeed that bad. Whatever you think he can provide can be EASILY replaced by a number of pitchers currently on our...

Dang I would have done that, even if he's only a RP.

I don't suspect our top 5 pitchers will throw 25+ starts. But Elder is currently pretty far down the totem pole for extended starts, and that's before we sign/trade for another SP like AA claims he is looking for.

That isn't necessarily a good thing. Maybe Sale can be replaced internally if one of the young guns hit. But that's a big task. And we still need a more permanent plan for SS and we'll also have to rebuild the pen again.

If Elder gets 20-25 starts, we are in big trouble. He is currently, at best, 6th among SP options going into 2026 behind, Sale, Schwelly, Strider, Lopez, and Waldrep . And that is being pretty optimistic, because I would be more willing to give Holmes or one of the top prospects an extended...

Wilson actually rated pretty poorly in DRS and was below average on OOA. I doubt they are gonna move him away from SS right away, but Kim would have given them some flexibility if Wilson didn't improve those numbers.

I had the wrong data pulled up on FG. That's my bad

OOA had him at -12 in 2024. He didn't have enough data in 2025 to make any conclusions.

I don't know about that. He barely played the field this year and was pretty brutal in 2024. He might be better than Castellanos in the field, but he's still pretty awful.

The Phillies once again are trying to assemble the worst defensive OF in baseball. How the eff do they keep their pitchers ERAs so low? Especially when they consistently run out arguably the worst defender in baseball at RF for 150 games a year? It's honestly very impressive.

I will pass on Chris Bassitt, who I assume would cost more than the 2/40 million deal that Kelly just signed to stay in AZ. The only guys left in FA that move the needle all have QOs attached and will cost 100-150 million (or more). I don't buy the rumors that AA is shopping in this aisle.

If we didn't already have an entire staff with injury concerns, I would be all over DeGrom. But that's too much risk that leaves you without much flexibility in the event he gets hurt or sucks. Based off the deals and rumors so far, AA seems unwilling to tie up a lot of extra money into future...

I don't know that Sandy Alcantara has ever really been an elite SP, even before the injury. 2022 was amazing, but a bit lucky. He's been a mid 3 FIP ERA pitcher (or worse) every other season. If he is cheap enough, I'll surely take him. But we shouldn't be trading anyone of real value for him.

Yes, because I was right. It was petty and snarky but that's to be expected on this board.
