    Braves Acquire Erick Fedde

Anyway, there's no reason to think too deeply about the Fedde move. We need pitchers. Literally need them. We're experiencing a significant shortage of ambulatory human beings who can throw a baseball 60 feet, 6 inches. Fedde can do that and he was (more or less) free. That's all there is to it.

    Braves Acquire Erick Fedde

You think Waldrep was pitching against scrubs in the SEC?

AJC And Braves Beat Writer Justin Toscano Part Ways

What do we think happened? I have five bucks on the AJC trying to force him to use AI to generate game stories and he said no.

I don't know who those people are, but...cool.

Braves Acquire Dane Dunning From Rangers

Hey, if the second half of the season is going to be a joyless death slog to 85+ losses, at least I can enjoy the nostalgia of watching a Gator great.

I won't pretend to know that much about our first round pick, but at least we didn't draft someone named "Dax Kilby."

    2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Trading Acuna would likely have a noticeable impact on ticket sales. I don't think there's any meaningful number of fans attending games because of Marcell Ozuna, Raisel Iglesias, Pierce Johnson or even Sean Murphy.

Which singular at-bat(s) from start to finish, have stuck with you over the years, and why? I'll go first. For me, it's Julio Franco and Chipper Jones

The 2002 NLDS was when I finally stopped believing in the idea of a "team of destiny." Man, I loved that team. Couldn't hit at all outside the core of Sheffield, Chipper and Andruw, but they could pitch the hell out of the ball, and they just kept winning all year. If the bats were silent...

    2025 Trade Deadline Thread

There's nothing wrong with having Allen at the end of the bench as a defensive replacement or even starting at SS and hitting ninth in a heavy-hitting lineup where you can sacrifice a lineup spot for defense. He's a perfectly acceptable piece at a league minimum salary. That said, I suspect it...

    FG : Ozzie Albies

The author himself acknowledges that the question is clickbait and they're obviously going to pick up the option -- even if Albies just ends up being a 1.1 or 1.2 WAR guy this year, you don't mind paying a few million bucks for that, and that's without even getting into the other stuff.

So...what are y'all's best overall theories as to what's happened (and why) in both the micro and the macro, to our braves since our world series run?

If you go player by player you can find reasonable explanations for just about everyone. Strider hurt his elbow, which happens to pitchers. See also Smith-Shawver. Iglesias is having a terrible first two months of the season, which has been known to happen to relievers. Albies is approaching 30...

    MLB Draft Thread

Haven't used a first-round pick on a position player since Shea Langeliers in 2019. Also, I had completely forgotten that we once used a first-round pick on someone named "Ryan Cusick." Didn't wait too long before trading him.

GDT 6/23/25: Braves @ Mets - Not Everything is Schwelly in the Neighborhood

I know no one here wants to believe, and the reaction after every win is "Blah, it means nothing," but just to note, the team has won nine of its last 13 games.

    Snit watch is on.

If it gets bad enough I suspect they'll find a way to replace Snitker that doesn't involve firing him. Promoting him to "Super-Duper Heckuva Guy Old-Timer Advisor Dude" or something.

    Snit watch is on.

Peak Bobby Cox was a different beast than Bobby from, say, 2000-2010. Peak Bobby was a solid, even occasionally innovative, in-game manager. Late stage Bobby was pretty set in his ways, but he still managed to squeeze great results from his teams due to his people management skills. Though I...

5/18 GDT: Schwellenbach, The Drake, and the Rested Bullpen in the Series Finale in Fenway

Sorry, I was going to respond to this earlier, but I rolled my eyes so hard they fell out of my head and I had to go track them down.

    Acuna Update

That's not a "Huh, he might be useful" huh. It was a "Huh, that guy is still around" huh.
