He's kind of got the old Walter Mitty thing going on, but the pictures of Walter in the old anthology textbook didn't make him look as angry.

    David O’Brien Announces His Retirement

He went out of his way to suck up to team without ever having any good scoop. Not being an AJC subscriber never read his features, but found what I did read of his writing to be annoying in style.

The tone seems a little aggressive but I guess filling the needs of a team might be considered an average performance by a GM. The Braves made the decision on the core awhile back. They rise and fall with it. This is filling in the margins with the resources they have available. If the...

I agree with most of that but it wasn't quite what I was getting at. The last part - the debate of whether it's worth it to trade Roy was more my focus. To me I'd take the zero surplus value free agent and give up the draft pick rather than trade rotation depth for a rental. I suppose it...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

I get confused sometimes by the way folks value things. Why be more willing to give up 6 years of control of a close to MLB pitcher (plus) for one year of Peralta then giving up a second round pick for multiple years of a free agent?

Looks like the movement, spin, and velocity are pretty much the same. Appears maybe his mechanics and release points are most significant change.

No reason why he couldn't potentially be the garbage man, but that's mostly fair.

I think they'd have stayed over if the right deals had fallen to them, but they weren't going over for deals they didn't feel good about. The Dodgers also greatly distorted the market last year.

Not sure how it's a gamble paying off, but seems like a reasonably good move. Doesn't blow me away but better than Nick Allen.
