Braves Acquire Mauricio Dubon For Nick Allen

Dubon is a better fielder than Allen. You can't really prorate Dubon's SS output over 1000 innings and expect it to remain consistant. Just like I wouldn't say Nick Allen is a +17 SS here on out. Both are great but those numbers are likely just career year type stuff. That being said. Dubon has...

Yes. deGrom was a 3+ WAR starter in 2025. His issue is health and it's a major concern if he can throw 300+ innings over the next two years. But what is clear is when he's on the mound he's really good to elite.

Iglesias had a rough start to last year. But the last 4 months of the year he had FIPs of 1.74, 2.75, 1.14, and 2.57 Considering he turned down similar offers from the teams just in the WS I think the Braves did fine there.

Not that surprisingly depending what other teams are on it. Some players put contenders on there since those are the most likely teams wanting to acquire him. Or maybe he just doesn't like Atlanta.

Braves Acquire Mauricio Dubon For Nick Allen

Dubon was a 2.2 fWAR player in 2025. That's by definition not below average.

He shined in that role for the Astros last year. 2.2 fWAR while playing plus defense at almost every position on the diamond.

Damn that's wild that Bowman was right about that when I figured it was just speculation. That being said. Dubon is an upgrade over Allen and can be an average player. Still want someone better but if he's a utility guy then that's the start to a good bench. edit: If this is a precursor to...

I really don't want to go for a SS upgrade that "might be an offensive upgrade over Nick Allen"

He's right. We round that shit up. It's not because of the 0.4 either. Anything over 35 is getting rounded up to 40.

Why not just make it so whoever wins roy gets an extra pick. Who cares if they are a prospect or when they come up.

Fringe top 100 guys win it all the time. But those weren't the players being held back for service time manipulation abuse.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

That became a thing once this rule was in place and was certainly not the norm among top prospects. Even the Braves kept Acuna down and still gave him a massive payday well before arb. It was just something every team did.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

The whole point of the reward is so that teams don't keep mega prospects down a few weeks to gain a year of service time. Those guys I listed are the very reason the reward exists. Without it there is a high chance they would be hitting FA a year earlier later than what they were going to...

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

I think it's doing a pretty good job so far. No doubt Carroll, Julio Rodriguez, Henerson, and Witt would have had their clocks delayed without the rule. And that's just the 4 players that earned their team a pick. How inaccurate are the lists really? It doesn't favor Atlanta much because of how...

Tatis would certainly fill the OF spot so that Acuna/Profar can rotate through DH. That being said. Do we really want to become the Atlanta Athletic Padres?

Realistically it's a problem for certain fan bases. Players don't care. I would say most teams don't care. General fans don't care. We just had one of the most watched World Series in years. Attendance per game league wide is high at 29 million. This is really only a big issue for hardcore...
