I’m just quoting what the recovery time for this injury as described. Its 2-3 months closer to 3 for pitchers plus adding in a ST build up March->April->May is 3 months plus June for build up.

It’s not good but it’s not the end of the world. If Waldrep needs surgery after recovering and a ST type ramp up we’d be looking at getting him back in June

Seeing as most teams aren’t the Dodgers more than you’d think. Most teams have question marks in their rotation are in big trouble if they lose 2 of their top 3 starters and a lot don’t have solid 5th starters

If that’s the case then one more SP wasn’t going to make the difference

I don't think going into the season and seeing what we have is necessarily a bad plan. We can always make a trade to reenforce the pitching staff at the deadline. Gallen and Bassitt could both be available again as well as a lot of other MOR options.

What I’m saying is adding more to the 5th starter pile isn’t likely to help us. What we need is someone who can start the season as a 3 4 or 5 but legitimately move up the rotation as injuries occur and be capable of making a playoff start.

Ok but there’s already a lot of options for a 5th starter Elder Wentz Perez Ritchie Fuentes Waldrep If we’re looking for more depth it needs to be for the top spots in the rotation.

I mean if AA is gonna sign someone at this point I think it has to be Giolito. There’s nobody else out there that you’d trust to start a playoff game

I understand wanting one every year but it’s not super realistic. I mean before 2021 we hadn’t won a WS since 1995. So what 26 years? And it’s not like we weren’t making the playoffs during most of that time either.

I mean there are 30 teams in MLB so an equal distribution would be one championship every 30 years. I’d say the good will should at least last 10 years minimum

He got the QO price but with 14 mil deferred so Gallen took an L by not accepting

I get where you’re coming from but im not totally against using deferred money to manage a roster there just needs to be limits. I’m more interested in preventing and coming down hard on Ohtani type deferrals rather than preventing players from getting a little more in FA or from teams being...

Actually 350 million is too much of a hard cap. Make the Glutton Tax = (Luxury Tax 4 + (Luxury Tax 4 - Luxury Tax 1)) in consecutive years
  14. S

    2025-2026 offseason thread

Also make it so that while teams can defer money a team can only reduce their luxury tax calculation by 20 million a year using deferrals. All other deferred money will be calculated as if it was paid on standard per year pay schedule.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

If nothing else the current luxury tax penalties need to be made far more severe. Spending at the Dodgers level needs to be franchise crippling. A Glutton Tax along the lines of teams with payrolls over 350 million for multiple years will have their full payroll taxed at a 200% rate and will...

Ok but what does that look like? I think it’s gonna be hard enough to develop a model that the owners will agree to much less the players

I’d say yes because he could be a short side platoon bat that would have extra motivation to take it to Philly.

A big problem though is would those owners actually agree to that?
