Finally, after two decades, Schuerholz’s alt has been unmasked. You gave us all the clues, Mr. Policeman. As Schuerholz told ESPN, "The economics in baseball stink. The economics stink, and if this isn't a clear enough signal to the doubters and naysayers, to be forced to trade an 18-game...

Wouldn’t be sturg if he wasn’t arguing against a thing I didn’t say (“Walmart has a national retail monopoly”). EDIT: To keep this on topic, which Walton billionaire should we lobby to buy the Braves?

You are in luck—as an “attendee of an Ivy League law school,” you have access to what I am sure is an excellent Antitrust Law course (unless it is Cornell, barely even an Ivy, amiright?) where you can explore the potential issues with massive corporations dominating markets and why we have...

I am going to take a bold stance and say I think paying market value to fill an obvious hole is good, actually.

He’s taller than Yamamoto and he might have been 150 in high school. He is obviously more filled out than that if you watch literally any video of him.

In the four years prior to their free agency (post COVID season for Max vs. Ranger’s whole career as a full time starter), Max averaged 150.8 IP per year and Ranger averaged 147.

Jamie Moyer put up 800% more bWAR in his 30s than he did in his 20s. If Ranger is gonna do that, we should definitely sign him.

Garcia was +16 DRS last year (2024 is the only year he has been negative at -5). Castellanos was at -11. Let’s live in reality.

In 2023, ZIPS projected Wild Bill as a 1.7 WAR player and Murphy as a a 3.8 WAR player. That’s the “objective” starting point. When healthy, Murphy has played as expected. Contreras has beat his projection handily. If you saw that coming, congrats, nobody cares.

BBRef, which does not include framing, has Murphy as averaging 2.6 WAR for us over his three seasons. They have him at 4.5 WAR per 162 games. That’s a good catcher, and definitely worth his contract. It would be better if he had been more healthy, but that’s life.
