    2026 : Around the League

New rule. If you intentionally drill a hitter, don't eject the pitcher. Force him to DH the remainder of the game. We'll see how brave he is then.

I don't think it's rushing them when they are playing this well. Tate for sure can use a little extra seasoning in A ball given he has such little professional experience. But Hartman just isn't being challenged right now. And Gil has already spent some time in AA.

Batty Olson on a cool 11+ bWAR pace. No biggie.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Hartman is overdue for a promotion at this point. There is nothing left to prove at A+. He's need the next challenge. Same for Gil, who already spent some time in AA last year. I would have them both in AA by the end of the week. Southisene is also due for a promotion soon if he keeps this up.

In Augusta, Southisene and Guanipa both went 2-4 with a pair of singles. In Rome, Hartman with another homer. Dixon Williams staying hot too.

His defensive stats have been all over the place. DRS loved him in 2023 with elite grades, but in 2024 while he still generated good metrics, DRS gave him a significant downgrade. OOA was the opposite, as it had Volpe as roughly average in 2023 and then graded him as an elite defender in 2024...

GDT 5-4: Braves-Mariners; Welcome back, Sean Murphy

I love Fuentes, but if we're not gonna use him as a regular reliever, he needs to be in AAA. You can't have 3 pitchers in your BP that are long relievers that you refuse to throw in back to back nights.

I agree that Dom is useless in his current role since we refuse to put Harris on the shelf. The correct move is to IL Harris if he can't play the field. You can't continue to carry 2 players on the roster who can't play the field.

    Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

I think this is a pretty dangerous path. Vets already receive pretty poor health care as it is. Denying them disability is pretty shitty. I think the vast amount of vets (probably 80% or more) likely would qualify for some level of disability based off their everyday routine alone. And PTSD is...

    2026 : Around the League

Nah. Unless the cost is low enough where he is basically given away, there isn't much reason to bring him in. We have Kim, Dubon, and Mateo already at the major league level for the rest of the year. Volpe has always been a poor hitter. His only redeeming quality has been his defense...

GDT 5-4: Braves-Mariners; Welcome back, Sean Murphy

Unless we make a trade, I don't imagine we'll DFA bummer this week and leave us with 1 lefty in the pen. There are also no available options currently in AAA that are any better. Martin is technically an option, but we still seem keen on letting him start or do long relief, which is fine by me...

GDT 5-4: Braves-Mariners; Welcome back, Sean Murphy

If Harris isn't going to play, why isn't he on the IL? Getting him 1- 2 PAs per night isn't gonna magically heal his quad.

    GDT 5-3: Braves-Rockies Game 3; 2016 Lineup is Back

Heim was not good. If I'm not mistaken, his OPS was in the .500's before yesterday. Teams could have had him for a song a couple months ago and I don't think he's done anything to improve upon his value in the time. And while 1.25 million for a catcher isn't a ton, teams tend to operate on tight...

If we just play .500 the rest of the season, we will finish 89-73. Pretty wild considering it's the start of May.

Google said resume throwing in 6 weeks, which is how I got that. To be fair, Waldrep is already throwing and he never even went through ST. So Skubal's timeline to start throwing could be shorter than the 2ish months that Waldrep has been sidelined so far. But that's probably best case...
