To get a bill across the line. This is step 1. Then come the recissions and impoundments. When all these fake NGO's stop putting through invoices you'll understand.

Wonder what happens to medicare/medicade funds when stuff like this is rooted out and work requirements are applied and enforced. Can you say budget surplus?

LOL - At the end of term 1. Wonder if anything unique happened. Lets just ignore where we were in the latter half of 2019 as a result of his economic policies.

I've been on record repeatedly that military spending should be down with a large portion being standing troops around the world (Trump brining that back). I've been on record saying I don't like everything in this bill. I have also been on record saying appropriated spend does not equal...

We are talking about now - Trumps actions right now and the impact his economic policies will have. What happened in the past has already happened. Trump and team are recalibrating the whole system that caused this.

Again - When its not career bureaucrats controlling the spend that is when people get mad. When did i ever say anything about the topline budget figure?

Soon we will see costs increase right? Definitely won't have rising wages for non supervisor class that outpaces inflation like we did in Trump term 1 right?

And the career bureaucrats ('5 star generals') have lots a material portion of their power. Why do you think Hegseth was one of hte most vicious confirmations? You think people in DC care if he had some extra curricular activities with women and likes to throw a few back?

You know what he thinks - He also lives in the real world where compromises have to be made. On to recissions and impoundments.

The plan should be to spend more wisely (you either believe there was waste fraud and abuse) or not spend at all. You can believe in stimulation of an economy and future event horizons (that are not far fetched at all).

Ok - and then? There are many spend cut measures in this bill - of course offset by additional spending.

Wish we could just fast forward a year. Going to be so much crow when the dust settles. And like we were trending in Q4 19 the economy will be roaring.

Can you tell me how many times the CBO has been accurate the past 10 years on their projections? But if we can't grow out way out of then how to we cut spending our way out of it?

The idea of taking an American founded company and move all their manufacturing overseas is then 'American'? Whose America? McKinseys?
  16. thethe

    Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

You know exactly what this means - As a country bringing over the manufacturing (or at least a material portion of it) is better for the country as opposed to not. The cost structures will soon be comparable all over the world (as I'm sure you are aware). So why not bring the tax base / job...

With the DOGE infrastructure in place and Russ Vought now in charge we are not going to have these payments go out unless they are actually valid uses in accordance with appropriated spend. What will end up happening are large budget surpluses and then recissions.

Made this point repeatedly. You can't just cut spending and think you are going to solve the debt crisis. Its all about growth and getting to the event horizon where robotics and automation create a future that we can't even fathom right now.

Yea - the Dems definitely need someone to set the standard to do things. You either think a country is a relevant concept or not.

The sheer level of fraud that exists at the expense of the US taxpayer is enormous. And if Trump never came around nobody would have known. Thanks trump!
