BRAVES FINAL DRAFT SIGNING BOARD: Backstrom on board!

Eh, the same is said about next year's draft pretty much every year. Kids are always more hyped before they get scrutiny.

    Austin Riley being called up

We could easily send him back down for a week sometime later.

WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 5/8/19;This just in -- Riley is RIDICULOUS!

They're both unsustainable, but still both very promising.

WEDNESDAY MINORS FINAL 5/8/19;This just in -- Riley is RIDICULOUS!

If the probability a player reaches his upside improves, then so does his FV.

TUESDAY MINORS FINAL 5/7/19: Kingham Flawless Again

Haha no I know, that thing has always bewildered me. Was just messing with you cause that sentence makes no sense.

TUESDAY MINORS THREAD 4/30/19: Duvall, Gwinnett stay HOT

And now has over 100 PA with a BABIP just over .300 and a K-rate just over 20%. Uh oh!

Wednesday minors: Riley and Duvall make a good team

Yeah, but based on the fans' reactions, it looks like it went over the berm and into the street. So it's possible.

    2019 MLB Draft Thread

A pitcher who is ranked where he is almost entirely on the spin rate on his curveball? Yes, a wrist injury could absolutely be enough to convince a team to take the 9th pick next year instead.

    2019 MLB Draft Thread

This is some truly mind-blowing analysis. It's almost like looking backward and seeing that one of them is tearing up A-ball while the other has been injured and not nearly as good is easy.

    2019 MLB Draft Thread

Yeah, I would guess we'd sign him to a pretty good deal for the remainder of the year, a pretty high figure for 2020, and tack on an option with a decent buyout for 2021. I can't see Kimbrel signing something that doesn't at least give him some money for 2021.

Aha, did not realize he had that kind of grade on his arm.

    2019 MLB Draft Thread

I prefer Bleday as well based on track record and competition, but I'm not sure he's more athletic. I know you can't just look at SB and determine that, but Bleday has attempted 5 in his college career (0 this year) and has been successful twice. Bishop does have 11 this year on 17 attempts...

    2019 MLB Draft Thread

Bishop is interesting. There was nothing to suggest he was very good before this year, but he came out all kinds of blazing to start the year and has apparently changed his swing and approach in a big way. He hasn't been as in Pac-12 play, but that's probably to be expected. He seems to have...

GDT 4/16; On the Menu: CAJUN FRIED SNAKEMEAT.

When you roll it all the way back to the start of 2017, it becomes breathtaking. He has been on a steady, steep upward trajectory ever since then, from good prospect (but not yet even a great one) to elite major leaguer in basically two years.

Acuna named NL Player of the Week!

Lulz, I would mock anyone saying that after 6 games. The fact that they actually broadcast it, though, is hilarious.

    Braves extent Ozzie!

Fair enough. But you could say the same for anybody involved. Just like the agency likely has other motivations, Ozzie likely does as well. I've said over and over his agent did a bad job at the very least on the option years tacked onto the end. There's no reason for those to be anywhere near...

    Braves extent Ozzie!

Yes and no. Obviously the 'he's rich either way so who cares' takes are simplistic and largely miss the point. But in this scenario, she's a victim of sorts if she knows nothing of what is happening, signs over more power than she realizes, and gets taken to the cleaners. She's not a victim...

    Braves extent Ozzie!

He didn't say it was inherently the correct decision, he just said we don't have enough to say that it was a terrible decision for him. Obviously financially, he left a bunch of money on the table. We're all clear on that. So yes, as a strictly business decision, it was a bad one. And it does...
