That Gwinnett team is going to have a .750 winning percentage.

And look where that got him. Every off-season is like musical chairs and some years, you are left standing. I obviously don't know anything about any internal discussions that may be taking place, but the Braves are a bit stuck in that they only have a couple of prospects that other teams...

I think one difference is that Bezos can shed his losing investments at a loss (take the tax break that goes with that). I grew up on a small farm that was only part of the family income so we were insulated from the see-saw of land values and commodity prices, but I saw a number of...

Absolutely correct. As long as a franchise can cash flow its capital investment, everything is rosy. Values of franchises continue to escalate and like you say they are a great investment for the few that can enter that extremely narrow market.

Very true because the later years won't have to be pushed into the earlier any longer for tax purposes, but that said, the extensions still impinge payroll flexibility going forward.

I find Bauer's behavior disgusting, but if you look at all the crap that front offices overlook when obtaining players (often with the old adage "He's worked on himself and he's a different person now") I think the things that are keeping Bauer out of baseball is his arrogance to admit (sincere...

You are correct. That said, I think there may have been some buyer's trepidation (if not potential remorse) on the part of the Giants after the initial contract agreement was reached. Remember that the Twins only gave Correa a three-year deal with opt-outs after each of the first two years...

I don't think it's the Sexual Olympics that turn teams away from Bauer. His tweets before all of that made him a bit of a target and a threat to team chemistry. He was basically the Aaron Rodgers of baseball: great on the field but always stirring the pot. Doesn't work that well in the...

I think the throwing is what separates him from RGIII. When Daniels was drafted, I immediately thought of the dual-threat RGIII, but Daniels is much more polished. Ertz is a shell of his former self, but I think he is one of the more underrated TEs of the past couple of decades and can still...

I am old and went to bed at the end of regulation, but it didn't surprise me that Daniels took the ball and spearheaded the winning drive with both his arms and legs. He stays healthy so that his threat as a runner remains intact and he is going to be a headache for whichever team he faces...

    Ricky Henderson Died

Phenomenal well-rounded player. Like stated above, the base-stealing seems to be highest in the fans' mind. But he was a lot more than that. The OBP and the sneaky power were big features of his all-around game.

Anthopoulos was the Blue Jays' GM in 2012 when they drafted Stroman so there's familiarity there. I don't know if that counts so much was a 33-year-old pitcher who looks to be on the downside, but it may mean something.

    Looking towards 2025

Remember that Maddux always had to have his personal catcher. I'm relatively sure than when the pitchers are having a pitchers-only night on the town, some of them are complaining about the teams catchers' framing and game-calling abilities.

Being old, I remember the game was populated with guys like Arraez back in the 1960s. He's very unathletic, but puts the ball in play and in an earlier era, that skill was valued far more than today. Twins moved him around (2B, 3B, 1B, LF) just to get his bat in the line-up and while he wasn't...
