I also don’t see a problem keeping him in AAA, once they deem Verdugo ready, and just preserve the OF depth.

I can see them giving Kelenic a month to show something. They rearranged a lot of deck chairs to bring him in and bet on his potential. Shame it doesn’t look like it’ll pan out.

I think this is the answer, but Verdugo and Kelenic feel pretty fungible at this point.

So, you’ve logically reduced things to the two simplest explanations: either the Braves didn’t want Soroka for some reason, or Soroka didn’t want to return to the Braves for some reason.

It’s not homerism to reign in the doomcasting a little bit. It’s also not all that logical to be so hyperbolic all the time.

But why? We should all be hopeful that Murphy stays healthy enough to post the fwar levels he always posts when he’s healthy. And he’s always been healthy enough to do that, over the course of his major-league career, until last year. Calling him ded is not only premature, it’s no fun—the...

Not really ... he’s had two ML IL stints. Those are the data points.

Murphy had never hit the IL before last season’s oblique strain. Now he’s felled by a freak HBP. I think it’s wildly premature to label him “injury prone.” I was one of the biggest Contreras fans around, constantly lamented Snitker not playing him more, and took a pretty dim view of the...

I’m a huge Contreras fan, and was on him earlier than most because of his hard-hit rates; I hated that we traded him, even for a very good player in Murphy. Having said that, he does become the defensively-adequate catcher he is now of he stays with the Braves. The Brewers have some special...

More, yes, but I’m not sure “way more”—depends on if you value López closer to 3 or closer to 4 fwar per annum.

The posters complaining about inactivity this offseason are the same ones constantly lamenting the loss of Contreras every time Murphy steps to the plate. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, but sometimes the best shot is the one you don’t take.
