Recycling the rumored interest from 2-3 years ago. Then a year from now he'll be tweeting about Lucroy again.

    Winter Meetings Predictions

The Yankees just reacted to the situation. Stanton's agent likely tipped them off that the no-trade clause would be exercised for offers (probably better) to the Marlins from the Cards and the Giants.

Going, going gone: Braves' lost prospects' new teams

Somebody posted this over on MLBTR also. Not sure what difference that matters. He was gone no matter what.

    JJ traded

Addition by subtraction. Never should've been brought back.

    Play GM with imaginary budget

Consider the fact that contention is not strictly related to budget. Too many posts of the "not until 2023" variety. Nobody here knows exactly when they'll take it to the next level. Last time they won the division with Fredi never here expected it.

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

so bottom line: trade Freeman and Enciarte. That was the purpose of this topic...for the 78th time.

    Play GM with imaginary budget

Isn't that exactly what several posters do here all the time? The place is loaded with fantasy league team owners, who think they're MLB GM's. They also always know the budget thresholds in advance.

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

We're speaking a different language on prospects. At this juncture, the focus should be on development and sorting through who has a real future with the organization. Some of those pitchers were drafted to keep, as hard as it is to believe.

Chicken Little belongs in there somewhere.

Allard has one poorer season and he's considered done. Hmmm, OK.

Submit Your Hall of Fame Ballot here

Yeah, it's just being realistic. We have to look at it like a historian and not a Braves fan, by weighing all pros and cons. Everybody tends to talk and defense and WAR, while ignoring the factors against. Somebody, apparently impartial, noted that no player after 1948 has been inducted with...

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

Correct. On the previous post indicated that the Mets may not have experimented with him in that role yet. The Twins obviously did, and Aguilera was premier. When considering what life was like before Wohlers, it would have helped a lot to have him.

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

Some of them begrudgingly admitted it. It was me who posted that an executive with world championships in both leagues is guaranteed a plaque in Cooperstown. Pat Gillick did it, JS and Theo Epstein will get enshrined also Maybe somebody else did it?

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

It was Aguilera not McDowell. That would have addressed 3 definite needs, as said before: CF, 3B and closer. However, the Padres offer might have helped more in the long run with the career that Roberto Alomar had.

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

It's a more conjecture that Cox's reputation was what swayed Maddux in December 1992. Schuerholz still had to negotiate a contract with a pitcher, who claimed to love and not want to leave Chicago. The Yankees were known to have made a bigger offer. OTOH, Cox had no track record of signing...

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

Also, to be fair, they became prisoners of their own success during the 90's. With annual playoff appearances, that meant no high 1st round draft positions. At the same time, some of the top Cox picks didn't pan out (Tyler Houston, Derek Lilliquist). Be assured, Todd Van Poppel would have...

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

Cox had a tendency to bring in washed up vets, just to round out the roster. It's understood that JS is the favorite whipping boy around here, but Cox could never have helped turn the team into championship caliber as GM. The Pendleton, Bream and Belliard signings, plus Otix Nixon trade...
