Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

If other clubs sensed that there wasn't a certain level of seriousness, discussions wouldn't have made it that far. Those were only 2 known examples. Who knows what else might have been offered? Used to tangle with Mike Adams at Scout over Cox's job as GM. Apart from the stockpiling of...

We'll see what the perception is when the votes are counted. Some if you are going to be very disappointed.

If you're going to make good on your promise, we can discuss all related issues on induction weekend for Chipper next August.

Only telling what the threshold is: 500 HRs or 300 wins for a pitcher, and there have obviously been cases with the player having to wait (and, with 500+ HRs not getting in at all). Anyway, we've been through all if this before. The level of support is not that great. Defense has only been...

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

He didn't, but somebody did an awfully good job of convincing others that he might. Very close to including him on a package to Pittsburgh for Bonds.

Not what AA will do, but what he should do...

Not how it happened. It's true that Cox didn't want to be remembered (blamed?) for trading a franchise icon , there was an overriding philosophy guiding his tenure as GM. That was to stockpile young pitching. Have personally posted verifiable offers several times, dating back to scout days...

Stand corrected. He also led in ABs one previous year with whatever that counts. Still, perception is going to be that he wasn't "best of the the best" among voters. They're not going to forget his massive drop off during the last contract, which might make some voters suspicious that he...

Post season heroics. If Braves won in '96, AJ would've won WS MVP. Brooks Robinson and Ozzie Smith were very well liked by baseball writers. (Compare with Gold Club ...and yes there is a character clause.) Robinson also had an AL MVP, had led the league in an important offensive category...

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

Don't remember saying it was "no big deal." Twisting words because you're angry and aggrieved...well, hopefully online venting helps lessen the blow. Incidentally, it was me who raised scepticism about the new "sour grapes" attititude toward Maitan, which was only one day before the official...

Willing to bet that AA is already rolling up his sleeves to do his job, which is to help make this a competitive club within a reasonable span of time. The safe betting is that he either doesn't bother much with here, Talking Chop, Twitter and the comments sections at MLBTR with the "oh, woe is...

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

Precisely, not for 3 - 4 years out. Some of those 12 prospects were not prospects, just minor league players. AA is already in operating mode without them as part of of the feeding lane. At the same time, it's not as if he's going to peak in with "I'd better see what Horsehide Harry thinks...

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

Of course it is...and it's not as if the effects would be felt immediately "Oh, let's freak out on a message board, like we do about everything else!" Somehow they'll weather the storm. The sun will still rise in the east

Lost prospects' stats (Ranking from Chase's Top 100)

In other words, one currently ranked Top 20 prospect. That was enough to get the "trade Freeman" and "trade Inciarte" posts back up. If Monday were really The Darkest Day in Braves History, then somebody like AA would've never wanted the job.

Does this mean Maitan skips winter leagues this year and just takes a really nice Carribean vacation?

Scandal-Stained Braves Must Send Strong Message To Fans This Offseason

Zeets, are you going to Cooperstown this time if Chipper gets in (almost assuredly)?

It wasn't so long ago that your trade proposal was Jair Jurrjens for Kemp.

Will take a different approach. This is how I think the results will be: Trevor Hoffman Chipper Jones Jim Thome (Personally think Vlad is more deserving but just think that Thome will get in first.)

Megathread: Braves lose Maitan, Bae and 10+ plus International Sanctions.

Schuerholz was focused on the new stadium, and is basically semi-retired. Hart oversaw the actual baseball operations. He's gone now. So, everything else is just to go off about who isn't "Sabermetric enough" and yak some more about "Braves way" some more.
