Trading those players was based on the Cubs eating half of the salary. I don’t want either as a Braves. If someone valued Heyward at 2 war per year he would certainly be worth 43 million.

No. Just making an observation that trading Bryant probably won’t happen. I want no part of any of the cubs bad free agent signings

The Cubs aren't trading Bryant unless they decide to rebuild. A Bryant trade is just stuff writers think up in the offseason to have something to talk about. If you are trying to win you don't trade a 5 war player that will make less than 20 million for prospects. I don't see any team giving...

Does this mean he will be an all star player? Boras has a knack for aligning himself with the best players.

The last time I went to a minor league game the pitchers threw breaking balls. If minor league pitchers know he can't hit a breaking ball they will throw plenty at him.

I don't think most people have completely given up on AR but most people (me included) don't think he is ready for a full time role at 3rd. Yes is is still very young and can improve. The improvement needs to come at AAA not in the majors as a platoon player.

The answer is 2. But it will be from 1 to 3 year contracts. Playoffs = profit for the Braves. Short contracts make money for the team but don’t sacrifice the future. Look at the meager amount of 2022 payroll obligations. If the team suddenly sucks and revenue falls then spending will be...

MS/AL lead the nation in Dollar Generals per capita. It’s good to be the leader in something positive.

You missed the master plan. The Riley/Shaw platoon is just a temporary solution that showcases Riley until we are able to include him with a package of prospects in a trade for an ace. Clubs are always looking to acquire a young platoon bat.

I'm confused. You start the post saying Riley should be a platoon partner with Shaw (which is a terrible idea) to the last sentence where Riley is in a piece in a trade for an ace. Usually teams don't trade aces for platoon players.

Shaw would be a great bench piece. I still think AA gets Donaldson back, but if not, Shaw might be a cheap option at third. If he can revert to his 2017 and 2018 form he would be a steal on a cheap contract.

Peraza and Wood are both available. AA could sign them both and fix one of the many mistakes of the Coppy/Hart era.

So who won the Kemp for Culberson trade? Culberson is a GA native I believe. Won't surprise me to see me back on a minor league deal.

Pillar hits lefties well. With the extra roster spot this year you could keep Duvall and add Pillar. Both cOF spots could be platooned. A good manager could probably get decent results with a Neck/Duvall Ender/ Pillar OF. Don’t forget Pillar is an ex Blue Jay. I’m sure he is on AA’s radar.

I may be wrong, but the projected salary I’ve seen is 1.5 million. That’s not expensive but getting into the range where there are equal options on the market. I believe the real Carmargo is the 2019 version not the 2018 version.

    Braves sign Travis D’Arnaud

Is there a max amount that can be given to a player to sign a minor league contract? Sign Cervelli to a minor league contract as a backup plan to Flowers/D'Arnaud.

I've never followed his career close enough to have an opinion about this but, would Didi Gregorius be able to play 3rd? He's under 30 and his power seems to be increasing as he gets older and fills out. He should be in the 15 million per year range so he should fit in the Braves budget.

    Braves sign Travis D’Arnaud

I'm not to fond of the d'Arnaud signing (because of the contract amount), but I do agree it has the potential to be great move. The Braves system of splitting playing time between catchers has worked well over the past few years. Hopefully d'Arnaud will work the system as well as AJ, Kurt and...
