Glad to finally get a home series vs. STL on a weekend. A couple of friends and I used to go to STL to watch that series every year. We have been wanting to repeat this at Truist for about five years now.

Nor was Jeff Treadway, he of the .320 BA for the 1991 NL Champs (336 plate appearances). Obviously they are looking for hitters who qualified for the batting title, but the game doesn't specify that. My rarity score was 145 with a missing square.

    Immaculate Team?

Ohtani also doesn't really add the same marginal value to the Braves that he would to a team that isn't already pretty much maximizing revenue. There would obviously be some promotional value, but the team is already selling out pretty much every home game anyway. I'm not at all arguing...

    Immaculate Team?

I guess that's one way to look at it. If he's right, you're covering two needs for around the price of one and a half star players. But if something goes wrong, mainly injury, you're paying one and a half stars and have two holes in your roster.

    Immaculate Team?

The numbers of residents, corporations, etc. that are moving to southern states seems to indicate that any such perception is only in the minds of people who have spent little to no time there, or who base their opinions solely on flawed sources of information.

    All star game

It's all about being an early adopter of that day's virtue signal. Better to be first than correct. As if these corporations give a rat's ass about any political point of view anyway. If they're taking a stance it is because someone in the C-suite was convinced that taking that position...

Reggie Jackson was only 8%. I'm curious what Gehrig would have been. I also got Marrero...thought about pulling the trigger on Lombard but didn't have the balls for it.

The Braves won 106 games in 1998.

I was under the impression that the Cubs and WGN weren’t subjected to the same revenue split as the Braves and TBS, although I could be wrong. I also thought the TV deal with FSN came before the sale, but I have slept and drank since then.

Liberty has been infinitely better than Time Warner AOL. Under the latter's control, the Braves lost the TBS exclusivity, stopped spending competitively on player personnel, and deliberately signed a long-term, far below market value TV contract in order to inflate the team's selling price...

    2023 MLB Draft Thread

That's where the eye test comes into play. He just didn't look like a potential MLB hitter to me at all while he was at A&M. He had average to below average power in college, while playing at a park where the ball tends to fly pretty well. Average got worse every year, while OBP stayed fairly...

Any scouts who saw Shewmake play and thought he would be a MLB hitter should be fired if they haven't been already.

Agree with all on the lack of mass transit. That would definitely help. Parking is the one criticism from the Braves' end that I have. Being able to ride MARTA to somewhere near the stadium complex would help alleviate that issue. From what I recall reading in the past, the Cobb opposition...

They nailed it with the Battery as well. I was afraid it was going to be like Ballpark Village in St Louis, with one building with a few duplicative bars and attractions. The environment before a game in the Battery is outstanding.

GDT 6-11: EIGHT Days a Week. Elder brings the Broom!

Agreed. As currently constructed this team's biggest need is a competent middle infielder for the bench. We are an injury away from replacing Ozzie or Arcia with Grissom, Shewmake, or Culberson. None of those should be getting meaningful at-bats (or, in the case of Grissom, defensive innings)...

GDT 5/23 STRIDER: I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger

Olson is streaky. He always has been. Look at the way he ended last year, or the way he began this year. It would be nice to have the consistency of Freeman. If Freddie would have signed the better deal offered then Olson wouldn't be an issue for us. I believe there is something to the...

GDT 5/23 STRIDER: I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger

Doubtful. Let's see how this comparison looks when Freddie is 36 and 37. Freeman may indeed defy Mother Nature and perform up to the level he's being paid for well past his prime, but it's still not a smart bet to assume that will happen.

    GDT 5/13/23: Braves @ Blue Jays - No 2 C Lineup Today

This is what needs to happen. He went down after struggling early in 2021 and came back a beast down the stretch. His bad start to that year was very similar in that his peripherals were way better than his actual results. At this point it's probably more in his head than anything else.

GDT 5/12/23: Braves @ Blue Jays - Midseason Maple Syrup Run

Love the two catchers plan. Will we put the second behind the first in case of wild pitches?
