I tend to think players are what they are.

Why in Keith Lockhart's name did John Boland Schuerholz Jr trade Jermaine Dye away?

I think people who aren't in the spotlight find ways to undervalue even the biggest of achievements. Winning 14 straight divisions in an amazing organizational feat and JS had a heavy hand in every one of them.

I would imagine that is common separator between major league talent and minor leaguers.

Why in Keith Lockhart's name did John Boland Schuerholz Jr trade Jermaine Dye away?

I think eventually committing to a rebuild ended up being a nice recharge for the fans but wasn't anything the org had patience for. The Braves continued to draft well though and were mostly good at choosing what to throw and what to keep. The problem was the Tex trade was the team wasn't...

Why in Keith Lockhart's name did John Boland Schuerholz Jr trade Jermaine Dye away?

Also the Braves roster pre-JS wasn't playoff caliber. He made the moves that got them there and the moves that sustained it for 14 years an unprecedented feat. That's pretty incredible by any objective standard, but so sorry he finally traded away a player or two that the fan base regretted...

Why in Keith Lockhart's name did John Boland Schuerholz Jr trade Jermaine Dye away?

I personally do not care about the Tex trade. The worst thing they gave up was Andrus and that's neither a big deal historically or a position where the Braves struggled afterwards. Maybe you don't make the trade, but the value of the return has always been inflated simply because some of...

You have a hard time finding anything positive about the front office that relievers a decade and a half of division titles? Seriously?

They basically used all of these as starters and then cut bait. It's tough to come up with guys they actually converted. Usually trade them before that.

I love it when people string together random statements made over months, conflate it with rumors and media speculation, and then treat the amalgam like it was testimony given under oath. Aha!

I think we should guillotine all of them. The truth is that poors would love to make millions playing a child game but they can't. But one thing they can do is get a vicarious thrill off their team winning and the millionaires looking for a few more shekels stand in the way of that. Why...

I prefer spending limited resources on things other than a deep bench in the DH era. Pretty obvious that bullpen is more important.

I feel like it's been relatively common over the years for players to change up arm angle to one degree or another and there isn't much better time to do it when starting from square one after injury. Don't really have much expectation either way but I'm guessing he's going to pitch for...

    Official 2024 Off-Season Thread!

I think some consideration ought to be given to the possibility that players may play better because they're comfortable and treated well. A family member of mine has participated in the the little camp where mlb rookies are given advice on how to be a pro. The Braves organization gets high...
