    Winkler selected in Rule V

well you were right, Doumit was worthless. Wouldn't be surprised if no one offers anything to him and he winds up playing for the same trash filled AAA team as Francoeur and Uggla, the Washed up Prairie Dogs

    Braves close to signing Callaspo

I dunno about that, his trajectory has the same downward slope Doumit's did. Maybe the new regime will actually succeed in getting these guys in shape. He'll need to lose 20 lbs to be a viable 2b but at 31 he surely could. A cheap one year deal, with incentives. Nice for the budget and some...

    Medlen, Beachy, Schlosser non-tendered

That would be the only reason, and I think they're right, he showed nothing. One more guy we can sign, now. Maybe something is brewing that will require roster space.

    Venters & Pena DFA'd

Yeah but you can't go to arb with Medlen, he'll get around 5 million. I'm a little concerned we haven't signed him already, he might be testing the market. Who knows what a good pitcher coming off a 2nd TJ will get?

Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Deal probably means we're keeping Gattis and putting him in LF, and moving JUp to RF. Everyone keeps saying we can't afford both Heyward and Jup so a trade of one of them shouldn't be a surprise.

Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Our pitching WAS pretty good. But we have some major holes in our rotation and the front office seems convinced the farm system has no one who will help. And of course Schuerholz "signed off" on this, he's in charge. Good idea, trade an expensive OF'r for cheap starting pitching but we didn't...

GDT x 3: Braves at Phillies before taking it to the house...

Wise move. I stopped watching after we got swept by the Marlins at home in July, and I'm glad I did.

If Kershaw's arm doesn't fall off they'll win. He'll account for half the needed wins by himself.

did he trade away players who weren't dedicated to Jesus?

Report: Rockies GM O'Dowd rumored for Braves posiiton

O'Dowd may be the worst of Hart's protégé's but the only one who'd actually bite on what looks like a bad job to take right now. Or maybe the reporter doesn't know a damn thing. I'd suspect that O'Dowd biases re religion have cause him to not make some moves that could have made his team...

    Harang

don't think we'd want to go up there to keep him. I'd be OK with the 7.5 per year but not the 2nd year, he's too old and when he's bad, he's really bad.

This team is not in doomed for the next couple of years.

now that Hart has announced he's in favor of keeping Fredi would you like to update your opinion?

    Hart: Braves 'Lethargic', Needs Changes

that's why they fired Wren but if we're starting over its going to be a long way back.

    This deserves its own thread

the "good" news is with a new GM a bad start will get Fredi canned in May. And there will be a bad start; this team is absolute toast. He "deserves" another year but when we suck again next year they'll realize he's part of the problem. Nobody who values job security will take the soon to be...

    Wren "dismissed" --

Yeah, thanks to Wren getting BJ and Uggla.

    Wren "dismissed" --

Then we have to hope that Hart and JS tip the scales. That trio will pick the new GM. I'm sure they'll ask him who he wants as a manager. Hope Hart and JS aren't looking for "Fredi" for the answer to that question.

    Wren "dismissed" --

Hart would be a nice counter balance to Coppolella who is apparently a young sabermetrics type.

    John Coppolella

yeez a Domer.. I'm in. It would truly be bizarre if the Braves replaced a GM from my hometown (St Pete, Fla) with a guy from by alma mater. Coppolella looks to be too young for the job.

9/21 GDT: METS (De Grom) at BRAVES (Santana)

really nothing to gain from firing people before the end of the season but there better be a move on the first day of the post season. Its ludicrious to keep Fredi. You're just pissing away another year. The guys who quit on him are going to be sorry next year when they find out you can't pick...
