    Around the Minors

Thought we could have a thread for posting random Minor League news in - similar to the around the Majors thread..... I run into random minor league articles and news and want to post them, but not make a new thread for each one. If this is already collecting in a different place, my bad...

    Some Random Minor League thoughts

Was starting to throw this in the Tuesday thread, but figured I could just make a new post and not clog that one up. Just some things that have caught my eye recently with our minors. 1. June hasn't been kind to some of our best hitters Austin Riley .206/.289./294, 1 HR, 11 SO, 3 BB TD...

Any chance this guy gets a shot in our rotation?

    Gwinnett: 52.1 IP, 2.75 ERA, 57 SO, 8 BB, 9.8 K/9, 1.38 BB/9, .336 BABIP, 2.87 FIP, 2.59 xFIP Andrew Albers - I really don't know much about the guy, but he's throwing really well

    Trade Flowers?

Anybody think we flip Flowers this year? Honestly I think it makes quite a bit of sense and I know that catcher is a sore spot for us.... .but..... - Flowers is hitting at career-high levels - He's 31 and signed for cheap with a bargain team-option next year -- in other words -- he's not...

Why are we bringing Blair up?

Don't like this move at all ... he's actually coming off two pretty decent starts at AAA; so now we are going to interrupt that and bring him so that he can pitch occasionally out of the pen in a season that isn't ending in a playoff spot anyway? Really don't like this move on the surface.

4/14 Minor League Player Hot Sheet

Taking a look at the best and worst from the first week and a half of the minors - I'll keep this updated every week or so. I'm going to factor in age vs level and will tilt towards players who are prospects and not just filler. The best; 1. Mike Soroka - 5 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0 BB, 7 SO, .40 WHIP...

    CBWilkins prospect handbook for 2017?

Not sure if he posts here or anywhere else - but a guy named CBWilkins used to do LONG prospect handbooks for the Braves, I always enjoyed reading his takes on the more un-heralded prospects, I dug around on Google looking to see if he did a 2017 handbook, but didn't find one. Anyone know if he...

Under the radar prospects you are excited/want to see more of this year?

Who are some of the 'off the radar' prospects you guys are excited to see this year, or even just curious to see? Talking about guys who really haven't gotten much if any prospect love. Here's a couple of mine; Pitchers Matt Rowland 6-5 righty that was an overslot signing by the Braves last...

Top-10 picks in the 2013 draft, who's still with the organization, who can make an impact going forward? #31 Jason Hursh Certainly a pick the Braves would like to have back, best case he can become a decent 6th-7th inning arm at the MLB level. #65 Victor Caratini C No longer with club, was...

    2080 Braves Minor League Review

SIAP, but the guys at 2080 did a pretty detailed dive into the Braves minor league system, don't agree on all of their ceilings and grades, but lots of info to digest and several first hand accounts of Braves prospects. Read the first-hand look of Braxton Davidson if you are ready to...

    International talent in the system

Can't think of another time with this much legit international talent in the system. Albies, Acuna, Didder, Ventura, Pache, Cruz, Ricardo Sanchez, Gohara, Maitan, Severino, Guiterrez, Soto, Pena, Contreras, Del Rosario, and Yepez. I'm sure I'm missing a couple as well.

Would we trade Colon/Dickey/Garcia if we were hovering around .500?

One of the reasons I really liked the addition of these three guys is all can be moved easily with their contracts if they are playing decently... but I'm curious if Coppy would do that if we were hovering around .500 looking like a fringy WC team. Clearly if we somehow surpass all...

Very pleased with how our system did this year

This is probably a better post for sometime in the off-season, but was just pondering the future of Touki after seeing his latest start, and overall -- I love what happened in our system this year with our younger kids. Obviously there's never going to be a year where every player develops and...

    Most dissapointing prospects

Every year we get new exciting names added into the organization through trades/signings/draft.... but every year certain guys fall off the map and remove themselves --- or diminish --- their future with the team. Among prospects who are your biggest disappointments this year? For me; 1. Aaron...

Braves tidbits from the latest BA chat

Mike (Atlanta): I'm a Braves fan, but what am I missing on the Swanson call up? His numbers in Double A are good but not great. This team won't be competitive next year, and it starts his clock. What's the point of this? Wouldn't it be better to let him finish the year in Double A, open next...
