    Last few weeks have wreaked my hope that either Schafer or BJ is the answer, at least for this year. Neither can hit; Schafer's last few weeks have been particularly disappointing to the belief that he wouldn't return to the form he showed in Houston. He's striking out a ton and isn't even close...

    Rays DFA Ryan Roberts

    looks like a fit to me can play 2b 3b and switch hitter. Better hitter than Janish, easily. Probably better in a short run pennant race and playoff situation than Pastornicky as well. No brainer if Pastor's out for a while. Eliot Johnson also DFA'd (by KC). Not sure if he's an upgrade or not.

    Per this AM AJC Gattis is almost ready will do three rehab games in Gwinnett and, if all goes well, will be activated for the CWS series next weekend. Schafer will also be eligible for activation that weekend and (previously reported) should be good to go. Beachy was fine after his last rehab...
