I do not thibk Lodise has any bearing at all in this offseason. There is no reason for the front office to make any plans based on him becoming a MLB player.

I don't follow. why would a team be willing to pay him 3/45 on waivers but not in free agency? It's the exact same decision. If no one would be willing to pay 3/45 in FA then no one should be willing to pick him off waivers.

I think I'm content to wait for free agency to conclude before assigning a grade. So far at a minimum they have upgraded SS slightly (or the middle infield bench significantly) and upgraded the 4th OF by a lot. Probably they have have upgraded the bullpen. If they added a SS and a #3 SP...

I d I don't necessarily think it's a "bad sign" that a draftee isn't projected at a premium defensive position in the majors.

Yaz had a 126 wRC+ vs R last season and career 120. He should preferably never face lefties. He doesn't have a home split disadvantage so the park might help a little but not sure it will be huge. But would be great if it was. This seems like exactly the kind of OF depth folks wanted to...

Agree. I do not have an issue paying Murphy that at all to split catching duties and give DH bats.

Obviously the Rangers would seemingly have to kick in a lot of money to convince Atlanta, who was unwilling to pay for Seagar's prime years just a few years ag because of back end contract risk, to acquire the post-prime back end contract risk. Unless the reluctance was to continue bidding up...

Literally someone earlier said it was an opportunity to change the face of the franchise or something like that.

I just think you are irrationally overvaluing the draft pick. Don't like the options then fine, but if you think one pick is going to be a franchise altering thing, you're going to be disappointed.

Maybe I agree with that but it depends on the contracts perhaps. Or what if Bassitt signs elsewhere and it's the difference between Suarez and a 5th starter type? Probably worth spending the pick then. I get that money lets you take more shots, but I'm unaware of any franchise...

I understand that completely and still do not think it's significant enough to stand in the way of making the major league team better.

I honestly don't care that much about the 26th pick. I would not treat it as a barrier to the Braves signing a guy, particularly if the QO has driven down the market (which is probably not going to be case). You like the deal and the player go for it in my book. The draft is a crapshoot...

I think strider was definitely risky as any pitcher is risky, but the reward was getting Cy Young at below market AAV for his entire prime. Maybe he's washed and it's going to end up terrible. But was it a good risk? I'm not entirely sure. On one hand the flexibility to walk away from even...

If the question is about process and you thought the risk/reward of the extensions made sense three years ago then the dice turning up snake eyes shouldn't really affect your view of AA. I don't think it's necessary to sacrifice someone every time an org has a transition. The question is...
