    Official 2024 Off-Season Thread!

Just like we ate the bs about Soroka & Wright coming back. Plus Fried returning from injury and it was like getting great pitchers at the trade deadline…🙄

GDT 9/17/23: Braves @ Marlins - Albies leads off

That focus won’t help in this year’s playoffs. Wish AA could have gotten someone legit in a trade. This band-aid bullpen and the last month free fall is a major concern before the games really count.

    Tebow!

Maybe if he could do that 'amazing' jump pass he showed in college, his throwing arm would improve.

    Cheating Wife at Braves Game

2017 can't get here soon enough. Fans are more interested in other fans than the action on the field!

    OT: A Surprise from Amazon

Maybe it belonged to Larry Wayne Jones???

Ouch....Gattis back to back 4K games

Hope he isn't hurt and that he does well. He's one of the few ex-Braves I like to root for (great story). Plus, he's in the AL so what he hits doesn't really affect the Braves too much.

Heyman: Why The Braves Traded Kimbrel

Funny how, in the end, it wasn't so much the players traded but the money involved. IF Melvin were making less $$, he could have been released ("fired") for poor job performance. Kimbrel was the prime choice to trade because of his large salary. But MLB doesn't need a salary cap of any kind....

Does the Braves organization have more pitchers, ergo more opportunities for TJ surgery?

Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

Can someone change the thread title now? Maybe something like 'Hector Olivera (with slightly torn UCL and never played a MLB game yet) - One ridiculous offer on the table by the Dodgers who MLB allows to spend like they're using Monopoly money'

Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

I raise a glass to the idiocy that is modern day MLB. And (sour grapes) here's to hoping that Olivera is a colossal flop and that contract becomes enough to disembowel even the free spending Dodger$.

Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

Shame there's not a salary cap to block spending on a relatively unknown gamble. Big budget teams can survive a bad investment if a player doesn't pan out but driving the price up keeps the middle to low budget teams from being able to take the risk. Of course, life is like that any way. When...

    Floyd Suffers Another arm fracture

He has had one uphill battle to pitch again. Don't know when he'll decide enough is enough but prayers for his recovery.

    Minor scratched from start

Brings up two decade old questions: who has the proper knowledge and training regimen to keep these pitchers healthy and how do the Braves staff get a hold of it??

    Grant McCauley's projected lineup

No, we went from too much money and years of a contract to one-dimensional, possibly injury prone good guy to who knows... If this were a video game, we'd still have Mac, Chipper, Heyward, JUp, and the big 3 from their glory days. Due to finances and aging, this is our team now and, personally...

    Braves limited Heyward's power potential

Baseball isn't a movie, it's reality. And reality sucks. Very few baseball players have inspiring stories. They're normal jocks who excel at hitting or pitching and play for huge, ridiculous mounds of cash. Teams hardly have fairytale endings either. The scrappy bunch of players who win the...

I know we aren't supposed to post stuff like this.....

After reading this board, I've been convinced that this team will only win 60 games this year so please don't try to post positive, uplifting or optimistic items here.

Braves sign RHP Todd Coffey to Minor League Deal

Wouldn't it be great if all these people we talk about actually gave a fig what we think? :happy0157:

Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

(cough, cough) salary cap (cough, cough) make the luxury tax penalty really harsh (cough, cough)
  19. B

    Braves sign Jose Veras

And veteran arms might produce some quality numbers and don't have to clog up the pipeline when the staff wants to bring up a younger, possibly better (and now MLB ready) pitching prospect.

Hector Olivera signs with the Dodgers

Fixed it for you to match most of the rest of the board statements.
