First spring training game in big league camp … I hit a line drive off Nolan Ryan. Right over his head. I was standing on first base, afraid to even look at him.
I love John. He could have been the best closer in the game if he hadn’t gotten his head messed up. (Coming to my event, but I’d say that even if he wasn’t)
I changed with the wind. I did what my body told me. I grew up in Baltimore watching Cal Ripken. He had 100 stances. But it kept me back and let me use my arm strength better.
